Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Nick Poppy (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jose Maciel (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Nick Poppy has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 28 - 7 - 1, fighting out of Tokyo, Nick Poppy!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Jose Maciel!
The judges for this bout are Taro Takaoka, Kenichi Hosakawa and Ren Mimura.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
The fight stays on the outside here - Maciel looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
A bit of stalling here from Maciel.

Maciel breaks the clinch.
Maciel has a takedown stuffed.

Maciel darts in and clinches Poppy up against the cage.

Maciel pulls guard.

Poppy sitting in guard here, content to control.
Maciel wants to get back to his feet but Poppy is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Maciel is using up a lot of energy trying to get back to his feet. Perhaps he should improve his position first.
Poppy will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Poppy stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Maciel swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Maciel keeping moving, preventing Poppy from controlling successfully.
Poppy trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Maciel is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Maciel checks a low kick from Poppy.

Maciel moves into the clinch successfully.

Maciel tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Poppy just stands there and leans against the cage.

Maciel pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Maciel looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Nick Poppy has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jose Maciel.
Poppy has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Maciel finds it's way round the side to connect with Poppy's head.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Poppy takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
Maciel avoids a punch combination nicely.

Maciel drives through and clinches with Poppy against the cage.
Maciel is trying to pull guard but Poppy turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.

Maciel breaks from the clinch.
Poppy throws out a loose jab but Maciel uses good head movement to avoid it.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Maciel cracks Poppy with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Maciel.
Poppy can't do much from the bottom here.
Maciel throwing shots but missing, from side control.
Maciel in side control, trying to ground and pound but not landing this time.
Maciel working the strikes but Poppy uses the opportunity to regain half guard.

Poppy has hold of a guillotine but he's not going to be able to crank on it really with only half guard, so it's no trouble for Maciel. Oh but Poppy has got full guard now! Oh boy! This one could be over very soon! Maciel goes limp - he's gone! Poppy jumps up and celebrates with the crowd - fantastic submission finish!
