Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Ben Davidson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Vincent Shepherd (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Vincent Shepherd has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Ben Davidson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Vincent Shepherd!
The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, Frank Antenori and Jack Bonds.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Davidson attempts a low kick but it misses it's target.
The crowd cheers as Shepherd lands an impressive looking overhand right. Davidson doesn't seem phased though.


It looks like Ben Davidson has been cut.

Shepherd feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Davidson keeping moving, preventing Shepherd from controlling successfully.
Davidson tries to strike from the bottom.
Davidson might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Shepherd wants to stand and escape but instead Davidson has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.

Shepherd working for a triangle but Davidson defends it easily.
Shepherd looking to hit a scissor sweep but Davidson is one step ahead there.

Davidson prevents Shepherd from getting back to his feet.
Davidson trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Shepherd can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Davidson controls the pace.
Davidson has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Ben Davidson wasn't doing enough on the ground.
Davidson tries to score a power double leg takedown but Shepherd sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Davidson somewhat.

Davidson looks to land a combination but Shepherd avoids it well.
Shepherd tries to land a leg kick but Davidson saw it coming and moves away.
Shepherd wants to clinch but Davidson slips to the side

and Davidson counters by moving into the clinch.

Shepherd turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Shepherd manages to end up in side control.
Davidson manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.
Shepherd not landing any meaningful shots this time.
Shepherd tries to stand but can't do so whilst Davidson controls his leg.
Shepherd wants to pass to mount but Davidson is defending the position.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Davidson trying to hold on to Shepherd's head to control him but Shepherd postures up.

Still in half guard, Shepherd seems content to control.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
Davidson tries to regain full guard. Instead though, Shepherd has advanced to mount. Uh oh.
Shepherd controlling his opponent.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Davidson is trying to stand.

Davidson tries to lock up and control but Shepherd gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Davidson could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Davidson is in a horrible position here, under a barrage of strikes, he's managing to avoid any damage.
Shepherd sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.
Davidson on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Davidson tries to get out of the position.
Davidson is flailing around like a fish out of water, trying to land strikes.
Davidson knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Shepherd on the ground.
Davidson tries to reverse the position but Shepherd maintains control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Shepherd tries to control but Davidson wriggling away.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The cut man is working on Ben Davidson's cut.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Davidson stuffs the takedown attempt from Shepherd. Shepherd gets slowly back to his feet.
Davidson avoids a kick to the body.
Shepherd tries to clinch but Davidson is having none of it.
Shepherd doesn't succeed with the takedown

and Davidson counters with a takedown into side control! That could mean trouble for Shepherd!
Davidson wants to stand but Shepherd has his arm trapped.
Shepherd is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Davidson has just dragged him back down to the mat.
Sloppy strikes there by Davidson.
Davidson wants to stand but Shepherd is controlling his arm.

Shepherd gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.
Shepherd moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
Shepherd wants to stand but Davidson is controlling the position.
Shepherd manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Davidson manages to get himself to full guard.
Davidson lands a decent shot there.
Shepherd postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.
Shepherd stops Davidson from standing up.

Davidson is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Shepherd wants to stand but Davidson has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
Shepherd trying to control but Davidson is working from the bottom.
Davidson looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Shepherd puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard.
Davidson is trying to stand back up but Shepherd is controlling him
Davidson on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Shepherd wants to lay and pray for a moment but Davidson keeps working.

Davidson taking some punishment here, with Shepherd in his half guard.
Shepherd takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
Shepherd wants to control but Davidson is keeping him busy.

Shepherd wants to work for an arm triangle but Davidson is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Shepherd stalling away here and it's allowed Davidson to slip out his trapped foot and regain full guard.
Shepherd would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.

Shepherd wants to control from the top but Davidson keeps moving.

Davidson looking for subs off his back but Shepherd has passed one foot through into half guard.
Shepherd is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount!
The step up in weight doesn't seem to be a problem for Shepherd. He's performing admirably here against the bigger man.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Davidson is really trying hard to get back to his feet.
Shepherd controlling the pace for now.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Vincent Shepherd showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!


Davidson dives in and grabs Shepherd's left leg, looking for a takedown. Shepherd pushes down on Davidson's head and hops out.

Shepherd clinches.
Shepherd tries to score a body lock takedown but Davidson shows good agility there to stay on his feet.

Shepherd turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control!
Vincent Shepherd has got the better of the ground game so far.
Davidson is looking for a sweep.
The referee asks Shepherd politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Shepherd prefers to stall for the moment though.
Shepherd wants to stand but Davidson is controlling his arm.

Shepherd is in a dominant position here, looking for a kimura. Davidson looks calm but he's in trouble here. Shepherd gets his leg over his opponent's head and yanks on the arm. Davidson is tapping like a morse code operator on the titanic! SOS! SOS! Shepherd lets go of the hold and Davidson can pop his arm back in it's socket.
