The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cena throws a series of punches but Vanko moves out of range.
Cena throws a nice looking combination but Vanko bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Cena bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut.

It looks like Ivan Vanko has been cut.
Vanko checks a low kick from Cena.
Cena throws a jab when Vanko was well out of range.
Cena shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Vanko eats them both and turns towards Cena to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo.
Cena fakes a jab and scores with a low kick.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Cena getting the better of the striking in that exchange.
Cena throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Vanko.

Vanko moves into the clinch.
Vanko throws an elbow but it misses.
Vanko throws a punch but it's blocked by Cena.
Cena misses with the head strike.

Vanko tries to throw a body punch but Cena avoids it by throwing Vanko back against the cage.
Cena looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.
Cena blocks the elbow strike.
With the two fighters working up against the cage, Vanko just misses with a elbow thrown towards Cena's brow.

Cena breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Cena connects with a crisp jab.

Ivan Vanko's cut is getting worse.
Cena throws a lazy right hand but Vanko sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Cena throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Cena throws the left hand but Vanko avoids the punch easily.
Cena scores with a jab. Vanko acknowledges it with a nod of the head.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Vanko closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so.

Ivan Vanko's cut is bleeding quite badly. He's got to try and protect it.

and Vanko counters into the clinch. Nicely done.

Vanko tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Cena's elbow.

Cena has used his reach advantage pretty well so far tonight.
Cena rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Vanko moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Felix Cena seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Cena fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Vanko manages to avoid it.
Vanko fails with an attempt to clinch.
Cena lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.
Vanko closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so.

Jeez, Ivan Vanko's cut is really nasty now. The referee must be thinking about getting that checked.
