The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Good exchange - Weber coming out on top.

Gates uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Weber.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Gates.

We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Weber has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.
Horrible takedown by Gates or perhaps it was just good defense by Weber which made him look bad.

Weber has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Gates off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.

Weber fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Gates manages to avoid it.

Weber stands over his opponent and dives in with a flying punch! Gates throws up his legs and catches Weber in a triangle! Oh this looks tight! Weber tries to escape but he's forced to tap! Wow, fantastic work there by Gates! That came out of nowhere!
