Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Merlin Yar (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Carlo Werner (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 2 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Merlin Yar!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Carlo Werner!
The judges for this bout are Aafke Stam, Patrick Alders and Wagner Zegers.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Yar gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Werner to score an easy takedown into full guard.
Yar is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

The fighters are working up against the cage. Yar manages to wriggle his way back to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched against the cage.

Werner gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground.
Yar pulls Werner in close to prevent any damage.
Werner trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Yar pushes Werner off and gets back to his feet.
Werner throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Yar.
Werner misses with a left hand

and Yar counters with a takedown into side control! That could mean trouble for Werner!
Werner sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard.
Werner really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Yar. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Yar lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.

Yar escapes and gets back to his feet.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Yar throws a one two combo.
Werner moves in looking to clinch but Yar pushes him off.
Yar lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Werner circles away quickly and effectively.
Yar looks to be in better condition than last time we saw him fight. Obviously he's been working hard on his cardio.
Werner closes the distance looking to clinch
and Yar counters with a three punch combo that has Werner backing up. Werner nods at Yar to acknowledge the strikes.

Werner is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Yar's half guard.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Yar has managed to escape just enough to sneak back to his feet but Werner is on him like a limpet, forcing Yar back against the cage.
Werner tries to throw a body punch but Yar avoids it by throwing Werner back against the cage.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Merlin Yar dominated that round.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!

Werner fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Yar sprawls well initially but Werner persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Werner throws a strike but Yar avoids it easily and moves to full guard.
Werner wants to stand but Yar has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
Werner looking to sit in guard and control but Yar gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Yar seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
Werner wants to get back to his feet but Yar is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

Yar is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.

Yar gets to his feet. Werner looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!
Werner looking to throw a kick but he's pulled out of it.
Yar closes the distance and lands a one-two.
Werner fails with an attempt to clinch.
Carlo Werner seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
The fighters are starting to get sweaty, which will make takedowns a bit more tricky.
Yar scores with a jab to the body.

Werner shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.

Yar has scooted to the edge of the canvas and used the cage to get back to his feet. Werner has stuck on his opponent and is forcing him back against the cage.

Yar decides to pull guard.

Yar is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched.

Werner pulls guard.
Merlin Yar is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Werner looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Yar puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Yar stands up from half guard... He's had enough of that ground malarky for the time being.
A solid leg kick lands there for Yar.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Merlin Yar.
I think Yar has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
