The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Davenport tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Brook keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Davenport tries a head kick but it misses.
Brook is looking to clinch but Davenport is avoiding it.
Davenport could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

Brook fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Davenport, pushing him back against the cage.
Davenport is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Brook to keep the fight standing.
Davenport is trying to force a seperation but Brook has the dominant position.
Davenport wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Brook has him pressed against the cage.
Brook stops a takedown attempt from Davenport.

Brook escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Davenport gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Brook can't keep his opponent in guard - Davenport advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.

Davenport is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Brook sees it coming and defends easily.
Brook is looking for a sweep. Davenport is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Davenport stops Brook from getting back to his feet.
Brook has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Davenport is working away from the top position though.
Brook misses with some strikes from the bottom.
Brook is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Brook wants to control but Davenport is keeping busy.

OK we're going to have a standup here. James Brook hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
Brook tries to clinch but Davenport is having none of it.
Davenport uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Brook.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Davenport shoots in looking for a takedown but Brook manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Davenport's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

Brook doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.
Davenport tries to close the distance and clinch but Brook swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Davenport moves in looking to clinch but Brook pushes him off.
Brook throws the kick towards the body but Davenport avoids it.

Davenport shoots for a double leg takedown but Brook sprawls well. He's pushed Davenport's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Davenport tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Brook defends well and Davenport ends up having to push Brook into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.

The referee is keeping an eye on Brook - much more stalling and he will separate the fighters.
Davenport is clearly stalling here... Pick up the pace son.
Brook can't get the takedown.
Davenport is trying to push Brook away but Brook has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.
Brook tries to pull guard but Davenport holds him up against the cage and eventually Brook drops back down to his feet.
Davenport goes for a takedown in the clinch but Brook prevents it.

An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Brook.

Brook's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Davenport shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Brook as he jumps to the side.

Davenport tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Brook manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Davenport might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

That was a close second round but I would say that Alva Davenport will probably get the nod.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Brook wants to hold on but Davenport pushes him away.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Alva Davenport.
