Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Mary Barron (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Masao Nippo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Mary Barron!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Masao Nippo!
The judges for this bout are Sosuke Kotani, Taro Takaoka and Hirohito Nitta.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Barron keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Barron tries to score a power double leg takedown but Nippo sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Barron somewhat.
Nippo swats away the attempt to clinch by Barron.
Nippo chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Barron can pounce on him.
Mary Barron seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Barron gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Barron tries to pull guard but Nippo holds him up against the cage and eventually Barron drops back down to his feet.
Nippo goes for a takedown attempt but Barron pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.

and Nippo counters with a body kick that stops Barron in his tracks momentarily.

Barron fails to land the takedown.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Mary Barron. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Nippo scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

Barron really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Barron is trying to control Nippo's posture but Nippo avoids it.

Barron is in a bad spot here and he knows it... just holding on for now.
Barron is not content to let Nippo control the position.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Masao Nippo was stalling too much, according to the referee.
Nice takedown defense from Nippo. No joy for Barron on that attempt.
Nippo darts in looking for a takedown but Barron gets double underhooks and turns Nippo into the cage.
Nippo goes for a takedown attempt but Barron pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Barron will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

Nippo shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Barron's guard.
Barron wants to sweep but no luck.
Barron is breathing heavily.
Nippo trying to control but Barron is working from the bottom.
Nippo engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.

Nippo drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Nippo jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Nippo wants to control from the top but Barron keeps moving.

Barron pulls Nippo in close to prevent any damage.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Masao Nippo hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
Barron shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Nippo as he jumps to the side.
Barron fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Nippo avoids it really well and circles away.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Nippo dives in and grabs Barron's left leg, looking for a takedown. Barron pushes down on Nippo's head and hops out.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Masao Nippo dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Barron shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Nippo defends it nicely.
Barron changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Nippo tries to avoid it but Barron manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Nippo to the ground. Nippo escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Nippo closes the distance and clinches up with Barron, looking for a takedown. Nippo pushes Barron against the cage but Barron circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Barron misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Nippo keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.

Nippo shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.

Nippo stands and steps away. Barron gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

Nippo changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Barron looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Nippo wants to control but Barron is keeping him busy.

Nippo takes a little break here. Barron wants to take advantage but he is being controlled well.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
Barron is looking for a sweep.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Masao Nippo has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.
No luck for Barron with that takedown attempt.

Barron throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Nippo.
Barron leaves Nippo with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
A slapping body kick lands there for Barron.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Nippo dives in and grabs Barron's left leg, looking for a takedown. Barron pushes down on Nippo's head and hops out.

Masao Nippo showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's time! Barron's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!

Barron scores with a head kick. Nippo tried to block it but didn't get his arm up in time.

Nippo throws a strike aimed at the side of Barron's head but Barron avoids it well.

Barron has one of Nippo's arms on lockdown, trying to prevent him from doing any damage.

Nippo is looking to take a break and control but Barron is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Barron is trying to get back to half guard.

Nippo looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Nippo is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position.

Masao Nippo comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I've got Nippo winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
