PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Brian Maddox (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and King Marvin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Marvin has chosen King of Kings by Motorhead as his entrance music. Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the lightweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 33 - 12 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, King Marvin!
The judges for this bout are Jonathan Paton, Franklyn Lucas and Lou da Vinci.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Marvin scores with a jab. Maddox acknowledges it with a nod of the head.

Marvin throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Maddox tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Marvin is in Maddox's guard.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Maddox keeping moving, preventing Marvin from controlling successfully.
Maddox is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Marvin working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Marvin is looking to work some ground and pound but Maddox has wrist control.
Marvin content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.
Marvin looking to sit in guard and control but Maddox gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Marvin had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Maddox defends it easily.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Maddox tries to free his leg and advance position but Marvin is retaining full guard.
Our spies down at at Mano`s Elite BJJ Gym inform us that Marvin has really been working on his submissions in the buildup to this fight. Will it pay off?

Marvin is trying to control the position but Maddox postures up.

Marvin throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Maddox escapes and throws Marvin's legs to the side, diving into side control!
Check out the look on Maddox's face as he threw that strike - that's one determined fighter!
Marvin wants to control but Maddox postures up.
Maddox wants to lay and pray for a moment but Marvin keeps working.

Maddox lands an elbow.
Maddox cracks Marvin with a big elbow.
Marvin tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Maddox wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Marvin sneaks back into half guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Marvin is trying to get back to full guard.
Maddox is nestled in close to Marvin, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
Maddox is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.
Marvin tries to get to full guard but Maddox has control of the leg.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Maddox not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
Maddox is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.
Marvin is trying to get back to full guard.
Maddox uses his free foot to push down on Marvin's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Marvin.
Marvin is looking to get to half guard.
Marvin tries to lock up and control but Maddox gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Maddox really is built like a bowling ball. I wonder if he'd roll if you pushed him down a hill...
Maddox landing strikes from the mount and Marvin is in trouble!
Marvin in a bad spot here, taking shots to the head.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Marvin tries to hold on but Maddox postures up.
Maddox trying to control but he's not successful this time.

Maddox with a couple of short strikes.


Marvin is rocked!
Maddox connects with a bit shot that sees Marvin covering up! More strikes from Maddox and the referee jumps in to stop the fight! Maddox is our winner by TKO!

Brian Maddox seemed lost for words in his post fight interview but he remembered to thank his fans and directed everyone to his website.
