Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Josh Wright (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tomasz Balt (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Josh Wright!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Tomasz Balt!
The judges for this bout are Nard Betker, Daniel Blasius and Paul Aken.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Balt takes one on the chin but keeps coming.
Balt shoots for a double leg takedown but Wright sprawls well. He's pushed Balt's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Wright tries to clinch
and Balt counters with a lovely straight right hand!


It looks like Josh Wright has been cut.
Wright wants to clinch up but Balt keeps it at a distance.

Wright gets caught flat footed, as Balt shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Wright keeping moving, preventing Balt from controlling successfully.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Balt stays in close to Wright's body and controls the position.
Balt trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Wright wants to stand and escape but Balt is having none of it.
Balt trying to move into half guard but instead Wright has managed to sweep!

Wright is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Wright sitting in guard, not really doing much.
Balt really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Wright. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Wright is looking to work some ground and pound but Balt has wrist control.
Wright stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Balt swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Wright controlling from the top position.
Wright works a leg free and moves into half guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Wright sitting and controlling from the half guard.
Wright wants to stand up but Balt has a hold of him and won't allow it.
Balt trying to control here.
Wright is figuring out what he wants to do next.

We're going to have a standup here because Josh Wright wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.

Balt drives through with a takedown into guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Balt stops Wright from standing up.
Balt passes easily into side control. Nice work.
Balt looks winded!
Balt tries to get to his feet but he's trapped momentarily.
Wright is not content to let Balt control the position.
Balt working away.
Wright could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Wright throws a couple of strikes even though he's not really in a good position to do so.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Balt goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Wright rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Balt's guard! Nice work there by Wright!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Wright thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Balt looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Wright puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard.
Balt tries to regain full guard. Instead though, Wright has advanced to mount. Uh oh.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Wright has hold of an arm here, looking to extend it. He's committed to the armbar attempt here! Will he get it?! Yes! Balt is forced to tap!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:55 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Josh Wright!
