PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Denis Burns (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Orgrim Doomhammer (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Well, I have no idea who's going to take this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Denis Burns!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Orgrim Doomhammer!
The judges for this bout are Marco Blurström, Roosa Järviläinen and Matti Vanhoillinen.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Doomhammer shoots in looking for a takedown. Burns tries to sprawl out of it but Doomhammer keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Burns manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Doomhammer throws a jab but it's blocked by Burns.
Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Burns lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Doomhammer has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Doomhammer and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.

and Burns counters with a straight punch to the midsection.
Doomhammer changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Burns tries to avoid it but Doomhammer manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Burns to the ground. Burns escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

and Burns counters with a series of strikes. Doomhammer will be more careful next time no doubt.

Burns darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

Burns seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Doomhammer for as long as he can get away with.

Burns throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Doomhammer tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Burns is in Doomhammer's guard.

Doomhammer working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Burns doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Burns manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Burns wants to get up but he can't break Doomhammer's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

Burns stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Doomhammer swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Burns slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

Burns tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Burns has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
