Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Herschel Ellis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Chen Stormstout (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Herschel Ellis!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Chen Stormstout!
The judges for this bout are Sosuke Kotani, Yukihiro Yamamoto and Hirohito Nitta.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Stormstout throws a wild body kick that Ellis sees coming a mile off.
Stormstout stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Stormstout wants it to stay on the feet.
We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Stormstout has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.

Ellis darts in and clinches Stormstout up against the cage.

Ellis has clasped his hands together around Stormstout's back... aaand, he's got a takedown into side control. Nicely done.
Ellis postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.
Ellis has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Ellis is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Stormstout is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Stormstout is very frustrated here, being controlled quite effectively by Ellis.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Ellis is working for the rear naked choke. He has one arm under the chin but Stormstout has hold of the other arm. A bit of a stalemate here.

Ellis trying to secure his dominant position for a moment - making sure Stormstout doesn't escape.

Ellis looking to break Stormstout's wrist control so he can sink in the choke. Stormstout remaining controlled and patient though - he really has to keep calm otherwise Ellis will wrap this one up with the rear naked choke!

Ellis will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Ellis slows the pace down here. Having a little breather whilst he's in a dominant position, looking to rest and regain some energy, ready to go for the finish.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Ellis seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Stormstout for as long as he can get away with.

Ellis closes the distance and clinches.
An uppercut to the body lands inside from Ellis.
Ellis goes for a takedown in the clinch but Stormstout prevents it.

Ellis content to control the pace. The referee will try and keep them active though.

Ellis has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.
Ellis shoots in for a takedown but Stormstout shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

Stormstout just misses with a punch to the body.
An inside leg kick from Ellis misses.
Stormstout is breathing heavily.
Stormstout throws a right and a left that Ellis avoids nicely.
Stormstout throws a push kick but Ellis slaps the foot to one side.

Ellis rushes Stormstout and presses him up against the cage.
Come on Ellis - let's have some action - none of this stalling nonsense.
Stormstout is trying to break the clinch but Ellis is controlling him.

Ellis jumps into guard, dragging Stormstout to the mat.

Ellis is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Stormstout is aware though and is defending well.
Ellis bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Stormstout's guard.
Ellis advances position into side control!

Stormstout looking for a sweep but Ellis has passed into full mount! Oh no!
Ellis sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.
Ellis unloads with some shots from mount but Stormstout bucks and avoids them well.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Stormstout tries to control the position but Ellis now has his back.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
A bit of a pause in the action here. Ellis controlling the positon.

Stormstout is displaying good submission defense - not really looking in danger of submitting to the rear naked choke at the moment. That could change in an instant of course if Ellis gets his way!

Ellis is working really hard to secure the rear naked choke. Stormstout defends successfully for a significant amount of time. Both fighters are looking very determined.

Ellis has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Stormstout defends a rear naked choke attempt by controlling one of Ellis's arms.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Ellis is looking cool and calm here, just waiting for a good opportunity to attack and finish the fight from this dominant position.

Ellis had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Stormstout defends it easily.

Ellis is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Horrible takedown by Ellis or perhaps it was just good defense by Stormstout which made him look bad.

Ellis will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Ellis throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Stormstout's waist but Stormstout gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Ellis off to one side.

Stormstout moves in looking to clinch but Ellis pushes him off.
Stormstout cracks Ellis with an open hand slap.
Ellis keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Ellis looks for a takedown but Stormstout sprawls well.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Ellis, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
