PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Nick Poppy (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Alan Kolodin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Alan Kolodin was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 29 - 7 - 1, fighting out of Tokyo, Nick Poppy!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 15 - 11 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Alan Kolodin!
The judges for this bout are Yuuki Gou, Shigeki Sano and Ren Mimura.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Poppy throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Poppy throws a leg kick that misses.
Kolodin throws a shot to the body.

Kolodin throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Poppy was covering up waiting for the punch and Kolodin finishes the takedown easily into guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Poppy utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Poppy not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Kolodin connects with a couple of short punches.
Kolodin slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
Kolodin working the ground and pound from side control.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Kolodin working the body and head with strikes.
Kolodin trying to control the position but Poppy is working away.
Kolodin has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Kolodin tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.

Kolodin is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Poppy is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Kolodin controls the position from side control.
Poppy can't do much from the bottom here.
Kolodin controls the position.
Poppy is looking to regain half guard here but Kolodin keeps moving and retains side control.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Poppy is letting Kolodin control him for a moment.
Kolodin cracks Poppy with a big right hand but Poppy just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.
Kolodin creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Kolodin tries for a kimura but Poppy is defending well.
Poppy is looking for a sweep.

Kolodin has hold of Poppy's arm here. He's working for an Americana. It looks like he might have it! Poppy tries to escape but he's just digging himself in deeper - Kolodin cranks the arm and Poppy screams in pain! The ref makes a decision and ends the fight before the tap - no complains from Poppy, who is just happy to have his arm attached to his body.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:58 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Americana). Alan Kolodin!
