PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Angel Mcknight (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Guilherme Romano (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Romano has chosen Acdc Thunderstruck as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Angel Mcknight!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Guilherme Romano!
The judges for this bout are Kenichi Hosakawa, Shigeki Sano and Sosuke Kotani.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mcknight tries for a takedown but Romano sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Mcknight misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Romano.
Romano tries to bum rush Mcknight with a series of wild strikes but Mcknight uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Romano circles away from the clinch attempt.
Mcknight closes this distance looking for a takedown but Romano circles away.

Romano darts in and clinches Mcknight up against the cage.
Mcknight is trying to pull guard but Romano has him pressed against the cage.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Angel Mcknight. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Mcknight tries to pull guard but Romano won't allow it.
Romano looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.
Romano keeps control of Mcknight as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.
Romano wants to break free but Mcknight has control.

Romano pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Romano keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.

Romano forces Mcknight back against the cage and clinches.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Mcknight tries to pull guard but Romano holds him up against the cage and eventually Mcknight drops back down to his feet.

Romano breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Mcknight stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Mcknight wants it to stay on the feet.
A looping hook to the body misses from Romano. Mcknight does a little dance to reset his feet.
Romano shoots in for a double leg but Mcknight sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Romano keeps the fight on the outside.
Romano moves into range and connects with a jab.


It looks like Angel Mcknight has been cut.

Mcknight clinches.
Romano landing knees to the head.
Romano wants to take the fight to the mat but Mcknight manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch.

Romano successfully pulls guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Romano has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Romano is working an open guard so Mcknight takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
Mcknight shoots for a takedown but Romano saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Mcknight tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Romano moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.
Mcknight darts in looking for a takedown but Romano gets double underhooks and turns Mcknight into the cage.

Romano manages to break the clinch.
Mcknight swings for the body but Romano moves out of range.
Mcknight throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Romano counters with a left right combination that sends Mcknight crashing to the mat - Romano wastes no time in diving on top of him and pounding Mcknight out for a TKO! Devastating finish!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:58 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Guilherme Romano!
Guilherme Romano seemed lost for words in his post fight interview but he remembered to thank his fans and directed everyone to his website.
