PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Mohammed Hunter (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mariusz Sedniak (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Mohammed Hunter had a look across the cage there at his opponent. He definitely means business

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Mohammed Hunter!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Mariusz Sedniak!
The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, Timothy Bukovac and Don Winkell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hunter doesn't manage to clinch there - Sedniak circles away.
Hunter takes a body punch but keeps moving.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Sedniak is defended easily by Hunter.
Jab, jab by Sedniak - just one landing.


It looks like Mohammed Hunter has been cut.

Hunter clinches with his opponent.
Hunter tries to pull guard but Sedniak won't allow it.
Hunter tries to pull guard but Sedniak holds him up against the cage and eventually Hunter drops back down to his feet.
Sedniak is pressed up against the cage. Hunter has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Sedniak down to the mat. Sedniak avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Sedniak has been working on his striking defense in training and it's paying off as Hunter is landing a low percentage of strikes.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Mohammed Hunter. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Hunter keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Hunter rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Sedniak moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Hunter scores with a leg kick.

Hunter shoots in but no luck this time.
Sedniak changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Hunter tries to avoid it but Sedniak manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Hunter to the ground. Hunter escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Sedniak shoots in looking for a takedown but Hunter manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Sedniak's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

Sedniak pushes Hunter up against the cage in a clinch.

Sedniak lands a nice trip takedown into half guard.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
Sedniak seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Hunter does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Sedniak is thwarting Hunter's attempts to control the position.
Hunter could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Hunter tries to roll over but Sedniak keeps him under control.
Hunter is looking to control Sedniak's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Hunter avoid being mounted?

Hunter is holding on to half guard well.
Hunter is trying to maintain the position but Sedniak is very close to passing his half guard.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Mohammed Hunter.
Sedniak tries to clinch
and Hunter counters with a slapping leg kick.
Some wild striking there from Hunter.
Hunter is breathing heavily.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Sedniak shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Hunter pinned against the cage. Hunter gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Horrible takedown by Sedniak or perhaps it was just good defense by Hunter which made him look bad.

Sedniak tries to clinch up but Hunter circles away and keeps his distance.
Sedniak throws a sloppy head kick and Hunter moves out of range easily.
Sedniak tries to clinch but Hunter moves out of range.
Hunter closes the distance but Sedniak moves to the side
and Sedniak counters with a stiff right hand.
Hunter fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Nice takedown defense from Hunter. No joy for Sedniak on that attempt.
Hunter tries to score a power double leg takedown but Sedniak sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Hunter somewhat.
Hunter shoots for a takedown but Sedniak saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A low kick from Sedniak is predictable there
and Hunter counters with a nice body shot.
A combination from Sedniak does no damage.
Hunter shoots in but no luck this time.
Sedniak shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Hunter as he jumps to the side.
Hunter throws a sloppy body shot

and Sedniak counters with a takedown into side control.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Sedniak decides to stand back up. Sedniak steps back and let's Hunter get back to his feet.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Hunter throws a low kick but it's checked well by Sedniak.

Sedniak shoots in and bounces Hunter off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.

Hunter looking for subs off his back but Sedniak has passed one foot through into half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Mariusz Sedniak dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Mohammed Hunter's cut.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Sedniak dives in and grabs Hunter's left leg, looking for a takedown. Hunter pushes down on Sedniak's head and hops out.
Sedniak tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Hunter manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Sedniak blocks a head kick by Hunter.

Sedniak looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Sedniak trying to control the action but Hunter is working from the bottom.
Sedniak is looking to stall here but Hunter recovers full guard.
Sedniak is breathing heavily.

Hunter controls Sedniak momentarily but Sedniak frees himself.
Hunter keeping moving, preventing Sedniak from controlling successfully.

Sedniak postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Hunter is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Sedniak, into his guard.
Hunter is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Sedniak wants to sweep but no luck.
Sedniak preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Hunter is stalling in the full guard.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Hunter enables Sedniak to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Hunter manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

Hunter preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.

Hunter keeping moving, preventing Sedniak from controlling successfully.

Hunter is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Sedniak defends well.
Sedniak wants to control from the top but Hunter keeps moving.
Mariusz Sedniak has got the better of the ground game so far.
Hunter is trying to control the position but Sedniak postures up.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Hunter looking to hit a scissor sweep but Sedniak is one step ahead there.
Hunter keeping moving, preventing Sedniak from controlling successfully.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Mariusz Sedniak wasn't active enough on the ground.
Hunter keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Hunter changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Sedniak tries to avoid it but Hunter manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Sedniak to the ground. Sedniak escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Sedniak feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Mariusz Sedniak showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Sedniak fails with the takedown.
Mariusz Sedniak seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Sedniak keeps the fight on the outside.
Hunter takes a kick to the side of the head.
Sedniak misses with an attempted mid kick.
Hunter dives in for a single leg takedown but Sedniak sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.
Sedniak is trying to maintain a safe position but Hunter gets an underhook and turns Sedniak into the cage.

Hunter escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Sedniak throws a leg kick

and Hunter counters by clinching up.
Hunter wants to break free but Sedniak has control.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Hunter goes for a takedown attempt but Sedniak pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.

Hunter takes a body punch but keeps moving.
Hunter throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Hunter throws a wild combination but nothing lands.

Hunter tries to sprawl but Sedniak drives through with a takedown into half guard.
Sedniak tries to stand and escape but Hunter is controlling the position.

Hunter has one foot on Sedniak's thigh - he pushes off and manages to get back to his feet.

Sedniak scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
Hunter stops Sedniak from passing to mount.

Sedniak looking to control but instead Hunter has slipped a leg in, to regain half guard.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Hunter wants to get back to his feet.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Hunter tries to kick Sedniak off in order to stand up. Sedniak Avoids the leg push though and dives into side control.
Sedniak is working Hunter over with some ground and pound from side control.
Hunter tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Hunter taking punishment in the form of punches.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Sedniak landing with strikes to the head and body from side control.
Sedniak wants to lay and pray for a moment but Hunter keeps working.
Sedniak passes to full mount! That's big trouble for Hunter!
Sedniak trying to control but Hunter is having none of it.

Sedniak is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Hunter has managed to escape the submission attempt.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Hunter is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Sedniak scoring with strikes but Hunter is staying in there.
Hunter is trying to escape the mount.
Sedniak trying to control but he's not successful this time.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Sedniak landing strikes from the mount and Hunter is in trouble!
Mohammed Hunter has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Mariusz Sedniak is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
Hunter is looking to get back to his feet - it's going to be hard from this position.
