PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Christopher Sexton (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tajikskii Tigr (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Christopher Sexton!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Tajikskii Tigr!
The judges for this bout are Fedor Mirinova, Vladimir Khabensky and Konstantin Menshow.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Sexton gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.
Tigr is trying to force a seperation but Sexton has the dominant position.
Tigr working aggressively here.
Sexton fails to pull guard.
Sexton tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Tigr smiles and moves away.
Sexton could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Sexton throws a right and a left that Tigr avoids nicely.
Sexton misses with a two punch combination.
Tigr throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Tigr scores with a hook.


It looks like Christopher Sexton has been cut.
Nice sprawl there from Tigr as Sexton shoots in.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Christopher Sexton. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Tigr feints and then winds up with a huge right hand that connects perfectly and sends Sexton sprawling to the canvas! Sexton rolls over backwards and springs off the cage and manages to regain his footing - how acrobatic! Oh, he's still wobbly - can Tigr finish him?!

That's one minute gone in the round.

Sexton gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Tigr is working hard here but doesn't seem to be able to control effectively, up against the cage.
Sexton jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Tigr walks away with a smile on his face. Sexton gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Tigr listening to his corner there, landing a nice uppercut.
Tigr throws a body punch but Sexton moves out of range.
Sexton tries for a takedown but Tigr sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.

Sexton gets a takedown into half guard.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
Sexton is thwarting Tigr's attempts to control the position.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Sexton stands up from half guard.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Sexton misses with a looping left.
Tigr blocks a leg kick.

Sexton shoots in and bounces Tigr off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Tigr wants to stand up but Sexton is controlling him.
Sexton is stalling in the full guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Sexton postures up.
Sexton might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Tigr throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land.
Sexton trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Tigr can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Sexton controls the pace.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Sexton clinches with his opponent.
Sexton tries to pull guard but Tigr forces him back to his feet, against the cage.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Sexton breaks from the clinch.
Sexton closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so.

Sexton feints and as Tigr raises his hands in defense, Sexton changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Tigr throwing rabbit punches from the bottom - showing the judges that he's keeping busy.
Tigr is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Tigr keeping full guard, as Sexton tries to pass.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Sexton slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Sexton slips nicely into half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Tajikskii Tigr dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Christopher Sexton's cut.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!



Tigr lands a big uppercut and Sexton crumbles to the floor! The ref thinks about stopping the fight but Sexton looks OK. Tigr waves Sexton back to his feet!


Sexton is rocked!


Christopher Sexton's cut is getting worse.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Sexton walks into a straight right, dropping him to the canvas! Tigr swarms him and finishes the fight with a hail of punches! What a brutal finish!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:19 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punches). Tajikskii Tigr!
