Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
5 - 5 - 0, fighting out of London, Marcus Gannicus!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
1 - 4 - 0, fighting out of London, Ignas Barysas!
The judges for this bout are Colin Fotheringham, James Glass and Paul Tew.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gannicus throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Gannicus uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Barysas.
Gannicus keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Barysas.
Barysas pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Barysas throws a lazy head kick
letting Gannicus counter with a right hand.
Some wild striking there from Barysas.
Barysas misses with a leg kick.
Barysas throws a looping overhand right but Gannicus ducks down to avoid it.
Barysas throws a head kick but Gannicus moves out of range.
Gannicus throws a hook to the side of Barysas's head but Barysas sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Barysas rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Gannicus moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Gannicus thumps Barysas with a low kick.
Barysas looking to land some kicks to the body here.
Barysas jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Barysas looks to score with a jab to the body but Gannicus is just out of range.
Gannicus plants his feet and lands a nice head kick!

A head kick by Barysas misses
and Gannicus counters with a nice double leg into guard.
Gannicus pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Barysas is keeping the position for now.
Barysas wants to stand but Gannicus is controlling the position.
Barysas looks winded!
Gannicus has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Gannicus drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Gannicus jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Gannicus stops Barysas from standing up.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Gannicus is pushing down on Barysas's leg trying to pass to half guard. Barysas is fighting to maintain full guard but Gannicus has managed to sneak the leg through.
Gannicus is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Barysas defends it well.
Barysas is trying to stand back up but Gannicus is controlling him
Gannicus is looking to take a break and control but Barysas is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Barysas looks like he's trying to stand up.
Gannicus is trying to work for a kimura but Barysas is defending well.
Gannicus is working for a submission of some sort.
Barysas wants to stand back up but Gannicus manages to pass into side control.

Barysas wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done!

Barysas is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Gannicus postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.
Gannicus prevents Barysas from escaping the position.
Gannicus tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
Barysas bucks up and tries to throw Gannicus off but instead Gannicus has got his back!

Barysas looking to stop the rear naked choke attempt by controlling the hands.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Gannicus is working for a rear naked choke. Barysas is not defending it well and Gannicus has tightened it up quickly! This could be all over! Barysas refuses to tap and goes to sleep, forcing the referee to intervene. A little trickle of blood came out of Barysas's nose as his head slumped to the floor. That is naaaasty!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:35 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Marcus Gannicus!
