PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Hai Mark (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Bob Wrestler (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Bob Wrestler is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Hai Mark!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Bob Wrestler!
The judges for this bout are John Roberts, Joseph Jones and Jorge Garcia.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Wrestler throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Mark tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Wrestler is in Mark's guard.
Wrestler is in close to Mark's body, working some short punches and elbows.

Wrestler decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
Mark changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Wrestler tries to avoid it but Mark manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Wrestler to the ground. Wrestler escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Wrestler has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.
Wrestler slaps away a takedown attempt from Mark, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Mark closes the distance looking to clinch

and Wrestler decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Mark's guard.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Wrestler sitting in guard, not really doing much.
Let's hope that Wrestler has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
Wrestler throws a big elbow that misses.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Wrestler stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Mark swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Wrestler controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.

Bob Wrestler has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.
Mark shoots and misses
and Wrestler counters with a thumping low kick.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Hai Mark. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Mark tries to clinch up.
Wrestler misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Mark shoots in and drives through. Wrestler sprawls well.

Wrestler feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Wrestler passes Mark's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
Wrestler controlling the action here.
Mark has a hand on Wrestler's thigh, trying to get back to full guard. Wrestler takes advantage of the position though and mounts him!
Mark is breathing heavily.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Wrestler landing shots from mount.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Wrestler tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Wrestler is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Mark can't stay in a position like this for much longer.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Mark is trying desperately to improve position.
Wrestler controlling from mount.
Wrestler has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Mark's face.
Wrestler takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Wrestler working away from the top, dropping strikes.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Wrestler lands a heavy elbow.

Wrestler looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Wrestler raining down hammerfists from mount.
Wrestler controlling from mount.
Wrestler postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Mark looks a forlorn figure.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
A nice elbow there by Wrestler.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Bob Wrestler dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Mark swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.

Wrestler scores with a takedown into Mark's guard.
Wrestler engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.
Wrestler passes Mark's left leg - he's now in half guard.
Wrestler passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Mark!
Wrestler breaks from Mark's wrist control and lands an elbow.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Wrestler with shots to the head and body - Mark looks very uncomfortable down there.
Mark is working to get back to half guard.
Wrestler unloading with bombs!
Wrestler controlling from mount.
Wrestler cracks Mark with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
Wrestler controlling his opponent.
The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Wrestler cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Wrestler controlling from mount.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Mark tries to improve his position but instead Wrestler has taken his back!
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Mark is staying cool under pressure, defending well against the rear naked choke attempt from his opponent.

Mark is trying to defend against the choke here but Wrestler has an arm under his chin. This one might not last much longer. Wrestler Tightens the hold and Mark taps out furiously! Wrestler displays superior BJJ to win the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:49 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Bob Wrestler!
