Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Eric Mccaughan!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Hakeem Bodman!
The judges for this bout are Steve Smith, William Peck and Robert Douchet.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Mccaughan decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.

Mccaughan is trying to work for a kimura but Bodman is defending well.
Mccaughan tries to stand but his hand is stuck under Bodman.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!
Bodman is trying to get back to full guard.
Bodman is pressing down on Mccaughan's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
Bodman wants to sweep here but Mccaughan controlling him for the moment.
Mccaughan would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

Mccaughan shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Bodman as he jumps to the side.

Bodman working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Mccaughan doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Mccaughan manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Mccaughan wanted to stand there but Bodman had control of the position.

Mccaughan gets to his feet - Bodman follows without any prompting.
Mccaughan shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Bodman pinned against the cage. Bodman gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Eric Mccaughan. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Mccaughan doesn't manage to clinch there - Bodman circles away.

Mccaughan closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Bodman to the mat! Bodman manages to get full guard.

Mccaughan gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.

Mccaughan bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Bodman is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.

Mccaughan prevents Bodman from improving his position.
Bodman is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Mccaughan's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Mccaughan's back!

Mccaughan is displaying good submission defense - not really looking in danger of submitting to the rear naked choke at the moment. That could change in an instant of course if Bodman gets his way!

Mccaughan manages to reverse the position and now he's in Bodman's guard. Nice work there by Mccaughan.
Mccaughan would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Mccaughan gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
Bodman gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily

and Mccaughan counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Bodman's guard now.

Bodman shoots and misses

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
and Mccaughan counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Bodman!

Mccaughan stands up from the dominant position. He obviously fancies his chances standing.
Mccaughan shoots in looking for a takedown. Bodman tries to sprawl out of it but Mccaughan keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Bodman manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Mccaughan bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

Mccaughan stands up.
Nice sprawl there from Bodman as Mccaughan shoots in.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

Mccaughan decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Bodman is trying to maintain the position but Mccaughan is very close to passing his half guard.

Mccaughan stands up from half guard.
Mccaughan shoots for a double leg takedown but Bodman sprawls well. He's pushed Mccaughan's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Eric Mccaughan. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Mccaughan gets the takedown into side control.

Mccaughan has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.
Bodman avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

Mccaughan fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Bodman sprawls well initially but Mccaughan persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

Mccaughan prevents Bodman from improving his position.
Mccaughan is thwarting Bodman's attempts to control the position.

Mccaughan looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Bodman is breathing heavily.
Mccaughan lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Eric Mccaughan dominated that second round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!


Mccaughan will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Mccaughan stands up and beckons Bodman to his feet.

Mccaughan shoots in for a double leg but Bodman sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world.

Mccaughan tries to clinch up but Bodman circles away and keeps his distance.

Mccaughan shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Mccaughan was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Bodman can't escape the position.

Mccaughan has hold of Bodman's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Bodman manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.

Mccaughan stands up from the dominant position, so we're back on the feet.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Bodman decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Bodman landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent.
Mccaughan tries to get to full guard but Bodman has control of the leg.

Bodman is trying to work for a kimura. He's got his hands clasped together - this could be trouble! No, Mccaughan has managed to free his arm - good work.
Hakeem Bodman has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Bodman wants to work for an arm triangle but Mccaughan is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Bodman wants to take a breather but Mccaughan is having none of it.
The fighters are battling for position here. Mccaughan manages to regain full guard. Nice work.

Mccaughan kicks Bodman off and gets to his feet.

and Mccaughan counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Mccaughan.

Mccaughan avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Eric Mccaughan overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Mccaughan decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.

And that's the end of the fight!
Eric Mccaughan showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Mccaughan, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
