Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 9 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Raymond Whittaker!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Walker Smith Jr!
The judges for this bout are Wesley Smith, Robert Twigg and Chris Downing.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A big right from Smith Jr misses.
Smith Jr throws a nice looking combination but Whittaker bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Whittaker avoids the body shot from Smith Jr.
Whittaker misses with a few strikes there.
Raymond Whittaker seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Whittaker looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Smith Jr is fending him off so far but Whittaker persists. Nope, Smith Jr circles away and we're back to standing.
Some bone on bone action there as Whittaker checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one.
Whittaker connects with a good right hand that stumbles Smith Jr. Smith Jr circles away out of range and recomposes himself.
Smith Jr stalks Whittaker and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Whittaker's face. Whittaker staggers backwards, shaken.


It looks like Raymond Whittaker has been cut.
Smith Jr rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Whittaker moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

Smith Jr gets tackled into the cage by Whittaker. Whittaker maintains the clinch.

Whittaker breaks from the clinch.

Whittaker looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Whittaker stops Smith Jr from getting back to his feet.
Whittaker misses with a head shot. Smith Jr uses the momentum to regain guard.
Smith Jr utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.

Smith Jr is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Whittaker is controlling him.

Whittaker has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Whittaker is stalling in the full guard.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Whittaker postures up in Smith Jr's guard and throws a big left but Smith Jr blocks it.
Whittaker throws a big elbow that misses.
Smith Jr is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Whittaker is in close to Smith Jr's body, working some short punches and elbows.

Whittaker drops back looking for a leg! Smith Jr is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Smith Jr manages to kick Whittaker off! Whittaker jumps back into Smith Jr's guard.
Smith Jr really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Whittaker. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Whittaker won't allow Smith Jr to sweep him here.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Whittaker throws an overhand right that lands on Smith Jr's shoulder, as Smith Jr tries to avoid the shot.
Whittaker connects with a jab.

Whittaker clinches up against the cage.
Smith Jr is still on wobbly legs! Can Whittaker finish him?
Whittaker lands a right hand that snaps the head of Smith Jr backwards.
Smith Jr gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Whittaker.
Smith Jr blocks a body shot from Whittaker.
Whittaker goes for a takedown attempt but Smith Jr pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Whittaker tries to close the distance and clinch but Smith Jr swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Smith Jr avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Whittaker lands an uppercut out of nowhere! Smith Jr falls backwards - clearly groggy! Whittaker dives in and finishes the fight with more strikes for a TKO finish!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:37 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Raymond Whittaker!
