The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Carrillo doesn't succeed with the takedown

and Gracie counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Carrillo's guard now.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Gracie wanted to stand there but Carrillo had control of the position.

Gracie got a little sloppy there for a moment and Carrillo has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Gracie has managed to get both his arms back between Carrillo's legs - danger averted.
Gracie tries to stand but Carrillo is controlling from the bottom.
Gracie is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Carrillo is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Silva Gracie.
Carrillo tries to close the distance and clinch up but Gracie swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Gracie blocks a head kick by Carrillo.
Gracie is looking to clinch.
Carrillo goes for a spinning back kick but it misses.
Carrillo really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Carrillo closes this distance looking for a takedown but Gracie circles away.
Carrillo doesn't succeed with the takedown

and Gracie counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Carrillo's guard now.

Carrillo has a butterfly guard looking to sweep but Gracie has passed into side control.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Carrillo's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up.
