Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Michael Vasquez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Quack Smack (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Vasquez's entrance music is Careless Whisper. A fine choice. Smack is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by doomsday. Man, I cannot wait for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Michael Vasquez!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Quack Smack!
The judges for this bout are Cecil Peabody, Alan Glass and Stewart Dunkirk.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Vasquez drives through with a takedown into guard.
Vasquez looking to sit in guard and control but Smack gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Smack is looking to stand up but Vasquez won't let him.
Vasquez working a defensive guard here.
Vasquez has his hands on Smack's head, controlling the position.
Vasquez looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Vasquez looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Smack puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.
It looks like Smack is going to stand back up.
Vasquez manages to get to full guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Vasquez doesn't do any damage with a couple of strikes from the bottom.
Smack has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Vasquez is proving hard to escape from.
Smack must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Smack postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Smack trying to control the position from guard on top but Vasquez is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Smack being controlled here momentarily.
Vasquez thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage.
Smack would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
Vasquez wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fight is doing enough on the ground.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Vasquez.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Smack tries to clinch up.
Nice sprawl there from Smack as Vasquez shoots in.

Smack gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Smack being controlled here, momentarily.
Vasquez wants to control from the top but Smack keeps moving.
Vasquez showing good wrestling skills to control the position.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Vasquez working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Vasquez not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
Smack looking to hit a scissor sweep but Vasquez is one step ahead there.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Smack is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Michael Vasquez dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Smack is looking to clinch.
Vasquez moves out of range of the strikes.
Smack wants to clinch.
Vasquez closes this distance looking for a takedown but Smack circles away.
Smack tries to close the distance and clinch up but Vasquez swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Vasquez avoids the body shot from Smack.

Vasquez changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Smack looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Smack prevents Vasquez from improving position.
Vasquez throws an elbow but Smack slips to the side and avoids it well.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Vasquez postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.
Smack parries the strikes from Vasquez easily there. Vasquez is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Smack to escape.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Vasquez has hold of Smack's arm. He's looking for a kimura. Smack seems comfortable defending it but Vasquez has shifted his position slighty and is cranking on the arm! Smack is real pain and he's forced to tap out! Smack is disgusted with himself for not defending it better but Vasquez couldn't care less - he's delighted!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:20 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Michael Vasquez!
