Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Kurtis Turner!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, John Anderson!
The judges for this bout are Chris Saunders, Colin Fray and Roger Salmon.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Turner moves in looking to clinch but Anderson pushes him off.
Anderson shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Turner defends it nicely.
Turner stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Turner wants it to stay on the feet.
Anderson rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Turner moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

Turner closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Anderson is trying to break free.
Turner goes for a takedown attempt but Anderson pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Kurtis Turner seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Turner looks for a takedown but Anderson sprawls well.
Anderson fails in his attempt to clinch.

Anderson scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.

Anderson decides to stand up and try his luck on the feet.
Anderson throws a head kick that misses.
Anderson tries to score a power double leg takedown but Turner sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Anderson somewhat.
Kurtis Turner has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of John Anderson.
Anderson misses with a lunging right hand

and Turner counters into the clinch. Nicely done.
Anderson is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.

Turner breaks the clinch.

Anderson scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Turner keeps control of the position for the meantime.
Anderson wants to stand up but Turner manages to regain full guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Anderson trying to control but Turner is working from the bottom.
Turner tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Anderson tries to stand but Turner is controlling from the bottom.
Turner wants to sweep here but Anderson controlling him for the moment.

Anderson decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Turner, up you get!
Turner shoots in for a takedown but Anderson shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
A punch combination from Anderson misses.

Good exchange - Anderson coming out on top.


It looks like Kurtis Turner has been cut.

Turner clinches up with Anderson and pushes him back against the cage.
Anderson wants to break free but Turner has control.

Turner breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Anderson tries a head kick but it misses.
Turner looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Turner is breathing heavily.
Turner shoots for a double leg takedown but Anderson sprawls well. He's pushed Turner's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Anderson closes the distance but Turner moves to the side
and Turner counters with a right hand to the body.
Turner takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Anderson cracks Turner with a big right hand that sends him crashing to the floor. Anderson has the opportunity to follow him to the ground but instead he's beckoning Turner to stand back up!


Turner is rocked!
Turner is starting to get sloppy and is letting his hands down. Anderson just took advantage and landed a stinging jab. Oh! Now a right hook, right on the button! Turner has gone limp and this one is over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:15 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punches). John Anderson!
A pretty intense looking John Anderson took the opportunity post-fight to ask for a shot at the title.
