PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Higashi Sato (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Bonald Scott (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Scott has chosen Hell's Bells as his entrance music. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Higashi Sato!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Bonald Scott!
The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, and Don Winkell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Scott shoots and misses
and Sato cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Sato displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Scott.
Sato throws out a loose jab but Scott uses good head movement to avoid it.
Scott goes for a double leg but Sato avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Sato continues to drive forward.
Higashi Sato has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Bonald Scott.
Sato tries to circle away but Scott has him pinned against the cage.
Sato is looking to break free of the clinch but Scott has double underhooks.
Scott blocks a punch to the side of the head.

Scott has Sato pressed against the cage, preventing Sato from circling away and getting back to striking at range.

Sato's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Sato misses with a left hand

and Scott counters with a single leg into guard. Sato didn't expect that.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Sato manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Scott manages to get himself to full guard.

Scott has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Sato can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Sato accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Sato knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Scott on the ground.

Sato is in close to Scott's body, working some short punches and elbows.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Our spies down at at CCF's Flying Circus inform us that Scott has really been working on his submissions in the buildup to this fight. Will it pay off?

Scott stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Sato swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Scott cracks Sato with an elbow. That is naaassty.

Scott tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Scott has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Sato is trying to get back to half guard.
Sato is working hard here to advance position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Bonald Scott will probably get the nod.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.

Sato connects with a good right hand that stumbles Scott. Scott circles away out of range and recomposes himself.
Bonald Scott seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Scott tries to score a power double leg takedown but Sato sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Scott somewhat.
Higashi Sato has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Bonald Scott.

Scott is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Sato wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Scott has him pressed against the cage.

and Sato counters with a three punch combo that has Scott backing up. Scott nods at Sato to acknowledge the strikes.

Sato will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Scott shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Sato sprawls well. Sato wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Scott gets slowly back to his feet.

Sato wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.

Sato tries to break the clinch but Scott is controlling the position.

Sato is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Scott.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Sato swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Sato leaves Scott with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Higashi Sato dominated that second round.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. And we move into the final round!

Scott shoots in and bounces Sato off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Sato manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!

Sato looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Scott with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Scott is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Sato scores with a couple of nice shots.

Sato wants to lay and pray for a moment but Scott keeps working.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Higashi Sato showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Sato has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
