Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Gideon Kumar (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and John White (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Kumar's entrance music is Chris Warren and J Johnston - Make Some Noise. A fine choice. This should be fireworks!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Gideon Kumar!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, John White!
The judges for this bout are Steve Erwin, John Mangel and Hugh Johnson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Kumar drives through and clinches with White against the cage.
Kumar is looking to break free of the clinch but White has double underhooks.
Kumar tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. White smiles and moves away.
Kumar throws a right and a left that White avoids nicely.
White shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Kumar sprawls well. Kumar wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. White gets slowly back to his feet.
A telegraphed right hand from White misses the target.
White stuffs the takedown.
White fails with an attempt to clinch.
White has a takedown stuffed.

Kumar closes the distance and pushes White back into the cage.
White gets through Kumar's defenses to land a nice punch to the side of the head.
Kumar is trying to break the clinch but White is controlling him.
White tries to land a knee to the head but misses.
White misses with an elbow over the top.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Kumar is trying to drag White to the mat but White just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Gideon Kumar. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Kumar wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.
Kumar wants to take the fight to the mat but White manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch.
White prevents the takedown attempt.
Kumar drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.

Kumar has a couple of punches blocked by White.

White pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Kumar gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows White to score an easy takedown into full guard.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
White prevents Kumar from getting back to his feet.

White trying to control but Kumar is working from the bottom.
White controls the pace of the fight for a moment.

Kumar looks to be in better condition than last time we saw him fight. Obviously he's been working hard on his cardio.
White slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
White misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.
Kumar on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Kumar tries to get out of the position.

White stands up and we're back to a striking position.
White looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Gideon Kumar seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
White changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Kumar tries to avoid it but White manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Kumar to the ground. Kumar escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

White lands with a nice body punch.
Nice sprawl there from White as Kumar shoots in.
Kumar is breathing heavily.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from White.

Kumar clinches up against the cage.

White drags the fight down to the ground.

White is looking for a triangle but Kumar pushes his legs off easily.
White can't keep his opponent in guard - Kumar advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
White is staying active underneath Kumar, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Kumar is pressing down on White's thigh, looking to free his foot. White is holding on for now.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
White has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Kumar is working away from the top position though.
Kumar thows a huge punch but White dodges it nicely.
Kumar throws a big elbow that misses, also allowing White to regain full guard.
White is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but John White will probably get the nod.
That's time! Kumar's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


White dives in and grabs Kumar's left leg, looking for a takedown. Kumar pushes down on White's head and hops out.
White fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Kumar throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around White's waist but White gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Kumar off to one side.
Gideon Kumar is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from White is defended easily by Kumar.
Gideon Kumar has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of John White.
White stuffs the takedown.
Kumar swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.

Kumar fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with White, pushing him back against the cage.

White turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and White manages to end up in side control.

Kumar is looking to get back to his feet here but White is keeping cool and he's managed to take Kumar's back.

White trying to secure his dominant position for a moment - making sure Kumar doesn't escape.
White throwing sloppy strikes.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
White struggling to keep hold of the position.

Kumar is displaying good submission defense - not really looking in danger of submitting to the rear naked choke at the moment. That could change in an instant of course if White gets his way!
Kumar turns into White and is now in his guard.

White is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.
Kumar works a leg free and moves into half guard.
White wants to get back to full guard.
White gets back to full guard.
Kumar trying to control but White is working from the bottom.
Kumar trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Kumar stops White from standing up.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
White working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Kumar.
Kumar is looking to pass into half guard but White pushes him away with his feet and jumps on top - now White is in guard.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
White would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
White is stalling in the full guard.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
White displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Kumar.

Kumar looks to land a combination but White avoids it well.
White shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Kumar but Kumar pushes him off and we're back to square one.
The fight stays on the outside here - White looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Kumar shoots in but White avoids the takedown attempt easily.

White manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Kumar on his heels. He'll look to pass Kumar's guard now, I'm sure.

John White showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!


White shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Kumar as he jumps to the side.
White defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Kumar.
Kumar walks forward, straight into a front kick from White.
White tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.

White pushes Kumar up against the cage in a clinch.

White has picked Kumar up - he's going for a ride! White dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard.
White takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
White not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
Kumar trying to control from the bottom.
Kumar might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

White is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Kumar has managed to free his arm - good work.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
White trying to mount his opponent but Kumar defends it.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Well, if White is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

White decides to stand up.
White throws a hook but Kumar blocks it.
White has worked on his takedown defense in the runup to this fight and it is paying off so far.
Kumar fails with a takedown attempt from distance.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
White shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Kumar defends it nicely.

Kumar scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
You can see the frustration on White's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
White managing to avoid any damage from the strikes thrown by Kumar.
White is looking to reverse the position.
Kumar moves into full mount!
White is wriggling around trying to escape.
Kumar trying to control but White is having none of it.

Kumar lands a couple of good shots and White has given up his back, trying to escape the position!
White just trying to survive but Kumar is wriggling into a better position, looking to finish.

White defends a rear naked choke attempt by controlling one of Kumar's arms.
White rolls, trying to escape but Kumar keeps control of the position.
Kumar lands punches and elbows.
Kumar has the hooks in. White is trying to push off one leg but he has to do so cautiously to avoid being submitted.

White has his hands over his head blocking the strikes from Kumar.
White tries to escape but Kumar has the hooks in and won't let him break free.
Kumar scores with punches to the body.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
White staying busy and making it hard for Kumar to control.
Kumar is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because White is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.
White wants to escape the position.
Gideon Kumar has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
White breaks Kumar's hooks off and manages to turn into his guard.
White stops Kumar from standing up.

And that's the end of the fight!
I would just about give that final round to John White.
I've got White winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
