Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, Greg Quin!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Dan Maverick!
The judges for this bout are James Atkins, Sam Margolis and Richard Clark.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Maverick throws a head kick that looked like it stung.


It looks like Greg Quin has been cut.
Maverick misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
The crowd cheers as Maverick lands an impressive looking overhand right. Quin doesn't seem phased though.
Quin on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Maverick. Maverick obviously looking to wear him down.

Maverick drops his shoulder and cracks Quin with a huge uppercut! Quin goes down! Can Maverick finish him?


Quin is rocked!
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Quin looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Maverick passes into half guard.
Maverick seems to have lost interest with the ground game and is thinking about standing back up.

Quin is trying to get back to full guard.

Quin is looking for a sweep. Maverick is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Quin regains full guard. Nicely done.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Maverick's corner is telling him to maintain position.

Quin looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Quin utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Maverick has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Maverick controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
Maverick cracks Quin with a solid left hand.
Maverick landing with the ground and pound.
Quin has a closed guard, preventing Maverick from standing up.

Maverick not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
Maverick wants to get up but he can't break Quin's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
Maverick slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Dan Maverick wasn't active enough on the ground.

Quin fails with the takedown.
Maverick lands a head kick!
Quin looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Maverick is fending him off so far but Quin persists. Nope, Maverick circles away and we're back to standing.
Quin shoots in for a double leg but Maverick sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Greg Quin. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Quin closes this distance looking for a takedown but Maverick circles away.
Maverick has been working on his striking defense in training and it's paying off as Quin is landing a low percentage of strikes.

Maverick lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

and Maverick counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.


Greg Quin's cut is getting worse.
Quin drops his hands momentarily and Maverick needs no second invitation. He sets himself and throws a perfect high kick, that clips Quin just on the top of the head. Quin drops like a sack of potatoes to the canvas, out cold! Oooooooh yeah! Stick a fork in Quin - he's done!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:25 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Head Kick). Dan Maverick!
