Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Huell Howser (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rennet Greyven (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Huell Howser!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Rennet Greyven!
The judges for this bout are Eliza Hachem, Donatello Bradman and Hugh Johnson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Howser thows a left - swing and a miss!
Greyven shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Howser but Howser pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Howser loads up on a big right hand but Greyven slips the punch.
Nice defenses there by Greyven.
Howser doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.
Howser misses the body punch
and Howser takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Greyven will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Howser swings away with a body shot that misses
and Greyven counters with a lovely straight right hand!

and Greyven counters with a nice double leg into guard.
Greyven with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.
Greyven stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Howser swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Howser utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.

Greyven slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
Greyven sitting in side control, looking to soften his opponent up with elbows and hammerfists but Howser is avoiding damage well and looking to escape the position.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Howser stuns Greyven with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.

Huell Howser seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Howser falls off balance throwing a combination
and Greyven counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.

Greyven lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.

and Greyven counters with a nice double leg into side control. Howser won't be happy with that.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Greyven is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Howser knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Greyven jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Howser is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Howser and Greyven has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.

Greyven has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Howser parries the strikes from Greyven easily there. Greyven is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Howser to escape.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Greyven looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Howser is fending him off so far but Greyven persists. Nope, Howser circles away and we're back to standing.
Huell Howser has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Rennet Greyven.

Greyven throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Howser sees it coming and avoids it easily.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Howser misses with an uppercut. Greyven saw that one coming.
Greyven lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent.

and Greyven counters with a lovely shot to the body.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Rennet Greyven dominated that round.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Howser on the wrong end of a decent looking cross there.
Howser throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Greyven counters with a stiff right hand.
Greyven avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Howser is really struggling to find his range with his punches. Howser's reach advantage is clearly causing him problems.

Howser closes the distance and clinches.
Howser tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage.
Howser throws a punch but it's blocked by Greyven.
Howser gets underhooks to prevent Greyven's takedown attempt.
Greyven goes for a takedown in the clinch but Howser prevents it.

Huell Howser has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Rennet Greyven.
Howser misses with a shot to the kidneys.

Howser throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Greyven blocks it with crossed arms.

Greyven has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Howser regains guard immediately.

Howser bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Greyven's guard.
Howser passes into half guard under a barage of strikes.
Greyven is looking for a sweep. Howser is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Greyven is breathing heavily.

Howser escapes and gets back to his feet.
Greyven uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Howser.
Howser misses with a straight left.
The fighters circling - Howser throws out the jab but it was never going to land.

Howser has closed the distance and engaged Greyven in a clinch.
Greyven blocks an elbow strike from Howser.
Howser swings away with an uppercut that misses.
Howser lands a nice looking hook to the body, against the cage.

Greyven jumps guard and drags Howser to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.

Howser is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Greyven doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Howser.
Greyven is looking to get full guard. It looks like he might be successful but at the last minute Howser jumps into side control!
Greyven throws a couple of strikes even though he's not really in a good position to do so.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Howser's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

Greyven works to advance to full mount. Howser defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs.

Greyven throws some wild stikes that Howser manages to avoid easily.

Howser manages to regain half guard whilst avoiding the strikes.
Greyven misses with a head shot. Howser uses the momentum to regain guard.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Greyven accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Poor strikes thrown by Greyven there. More accuracy and less frantic strikes would help!

Greyven goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Howser turns into him and now he's in Greyven's guard.

Rennet Greyven comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Greyven has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
