PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Ken Kent (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Bob Boom (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Bob Boom is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Ken Kent!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 6 - 1, fighting out of London, Bob Boom!
The judges for this bout are Steven Brown, James Ackerman and Donald Grub.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Boom lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Kent at a distance.
Kent tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Boom stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.
Boom looks to land a combination. Kent sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots.
Bob Boom seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Kent dodges the punch combination from Boom.
Boom uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook.
Boom scores with a three punch combo!

Kent feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Kent seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
Boom utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Kent looking to control the position here, rather than advance.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Ken Kent.
Boom connects with a right hand. Kent shakes it off.
Boom scores with a decent looking hook.
Boom displaying good standup as he scores with a three punch combination.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Kent takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket.
Boom pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces Kent back to the cage. Boom follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver.
Boom scores with a hook.
Kent moves in looking to clinch but Boom pushes him off.
Boom lands with an uppercut that bounces Kent off the cage and back into range.
Boom throws a good cross that connects.
A left lands for Boom.
Boom lands with a good body shot.
Kent wants to clinch.
Boom changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.
Kent tries to clinch up.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Kent tries to close the distance and clinch up but Boom swats him away and circles back towards the center.
A lazy left from Boom finds it's target.
Boom is landing a lot of head punches in this opening round! Kent had better start moving his head a bit unless he wants his face to turn into pâté.
Kent takes a shot right to the bread basket.
Boom throws a series of strikes that have Kent backpedaling.
Boom misses with a few strikes there.
Boom looks winded!

Boom tries to keep at a distance but Kent has taken the fight into the clinch.
Kent tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Boom can't break the clinch.
Kent tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Kent.
Kent tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Kent is trying to break the clinch but Boom has him pressed against the cage.
Kent has Boom pressed against the cage, preventing Boom from circling away and getting back to striking at range.
Kent has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Kent jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Boom walks away with a smile on his face. Kent gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Bob Boom will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Boom misses with a series of wild punches.
Boom lands with a cross.

Kent fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Boom sprawls well initially but Kent persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Kent passes the guard and advances to mount!
Kent looking to control and managing it successfully.

Kent working for a submission here. He's tucked his head under his opponent's arm, looking for an arm triangle. He's hopped off into side control, looking to tighten the submission... is it going to work? He's given up a good position looking for it. Boom looks OK. Oh, I spoke too soon, he's out! That must have been tighter than I thought! Excellent work there by Kent! Submission of the night perhaps?

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:58 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Arm Triangle). Ken Kent!
