Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Tajikskii Tigr (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Joe Ivar (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Joe Ivar has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Tajikskii Tigr!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Joe Ivar!
The judges for this bout are Viktor Lagutenko, Ivan Kurochkin and Sergei Dronov.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A big right from Tigr misses.
Tigr lands a jab to the head.

Ivar drives through with a takedown into Tigr's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Tigr not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Ivar looking to pass the guard.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Tigr is on top in guard.
Tigr stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Ivar swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Ivar has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Tigr can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Ivar wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Tigr sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Ivar's guard.
Ivar makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Ivar.
Tigr connects with a couple of short punches.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Tigr pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Ivar is keeping the position for now.
Ivar has a closed guard, preventing Tigr from standing up.
Ivar manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Tigr manages to get himself to full guard.

Ivar slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
Tigr is looking to stand up but Ivar isn't so interested in that idea.
Ivar is stalling in the full guard.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Tigr is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Tigr looking to sweep here. No luck so far.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Joe Ivar hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
Ivar shoots in but Tigr avoids the takedown attempt easily.

Tajikskii Tigr has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Joe Ivar.
Tigr takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.
Tajikskii Tigr is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Tigr will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Ivar shoots for a double leg takedown but Tigr sprawls well. He's pushed Ivar's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Ivar looks winded!
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Tigr fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.

Ivar looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Tajikskii Tigr will probably get the nod.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Tigr throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
A jab lands there for Tigr.


It looks like Joe Ivar has been cut.

Ivar has taken the fight to the clinch.
Ivar lands a left hand that snaps the head of Tigr backwards.
Tigr misses with a punch on the inside.
Ivar wants a takedown.
A head punch blocked on the inside by Ivar.

Tigr is defending well against a takedown attempt.
Ivar tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Tigr smiles and moves away.
Tajikskii Tigr has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Joe Ivar.
Ivar is breathing heavily.
Tigr tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Ivar was well out of range. Poor timing from Tigr.
Ivar throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Tigr's waist but Tigr gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Ivar off to one side.
Ivar closes the distance and clinches up with Tigr, looking for a takedown. Ivar pushes Tigr against the cage but Tigr circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Tigr ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Ivar moves away.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Tigr lands a jab to Ivar's midsection.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Tigr is trying to slow down the pace in the clinch, to catch his breath.

Ivar pulls guard effortlessly.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Ivar trying to strike from the bottom but really, it's not the best position to be doing that from!

Tigr pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Ivar is keeping the position for now.

Ivar is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Tigr is aware though and is defending well.
Tigr wants to stand but Ivar has a closed guard, so he can't escape.

Ivar wants to sweep but no luck.
Tigr wants to control from the top but Ivar keeps moving.
Tigr has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Ivar is proving hard to escape from.

The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.

Tajikskii Tigr has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.
Tigr lands a jab-cross combination.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Tigr moves out of range of the body kick from Ivar.
Ivar dives in for a single leg takedown but Tigr sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Tajikskii Tigr dominated that second round.
The cut man is working on Joe Ivar's cut.
That's time! Back to the action! This is the final round!


Tigr looks to score with a jab to the body but Ivar is just out of range.
Ivar has a takedown stuffed.

Ivar gets a double leg takedown into Tigr's guard.
Tigr wants to sweep here but Ivar controlling him for the moment.
Ivar slips nicely into half guard.
Ivar stalling.
Ivar takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Tigr wants to get back to full guard.

Ivar is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Tigr is looking for a sweep. Ivar is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Ivar stops Tigr from getting back to his feet.
Tigr trying to control but Ivar postures up.
Tigr blocking the ground and pound attempt from Ivar.

Ivar seems to be working for a kimura but Tigr defends the submission attempt.
Ivar sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Tigr defending well though.
Still in half guard, Ivar seems content to control.
Tigr wants to improve his position but Ivar is controlling well.
Ivar prevents Tigr from standing back up.
Ivar thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.

Ivar missing with the ground and pound from half guard.
Ivar is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount!
Ivar thowing strikes but they're hitting the gloves, not doing any damage.

Ivar has hold of Tigr's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Tigr manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
Tigr tries to reverse the position but Ivar maintains control.
Tajikskii Tigr is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

Ivar misses with a head shot.
Tigr is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Ivar controlling from mount.
Tigr is wriggling around trying to escape.
Ivar tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Joe Ivar has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Tigr wants to hold on but Ivar pushes him away.

And that's the end of the fight!
Joe Ivar comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Tigr has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
