Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Trios Nicolopus (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Yushi Yamasaki (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Trios Nicolopus!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Yushi Yamasaki!
The judges for this bout are Jeff Smith, Chris Saunders and Paul Gruel.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Nicolopus drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Yamasaki being controlled for a moment.
Yamasaki tries to control but Nicolopus manages to take his back.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Yamasaki is really stuck here.
Yamasaki rolls and manages to get back to half guard. Nicely done.
Nicolopus wants to lay and pray for a moment but Yamasaki keeps working.
Nicolopus throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Nicolopus perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.

Yamasaki is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Nicolopus pulls his head out easily.

Nicolopus will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Nicolopus throws a head kick but Yamasaki moves out of range.

Yamasaki manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Nicolopus on his heels. He'll look to pass Nicolopus's guard now, I'm sure.

Yamasaki is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Nicolopus is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Yamasaki is looking to take a break and control but Nicolopus is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Nicolopus bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Yamasaki's guard.
Yamasaki is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Yushi Yamasaki showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Yamasaki tries to keep at a distance but Nicolopus has taken the fight into the clinch.

Yamasaki tightens his grip and picks Nicolopus up, before dumping him to the ground. Nicolopus manages to land in guard.
Yamasaki is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Yamasaki throws a big elbow that misses.
Yamasaki trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Nicolopus has control of Yamasaki's left arm, preventing Yamasaki from doing any damage.
Yamasaki trying to control the position from guard on top but Nicolopus is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.

Yamasaki thows a huge punch but Nicolopus dodges it nicely.

Yamasaki is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Nicolopus sees it coming and defends easily.
Nicolopus is pressing down on Yamasaki's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
Nicolopus can't keep his opponent in guard - Yamasaki advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.

Yamasaki wants to advance to full mount but Nicolopus doesn't think that's going to happen and regains full guard instead.

Yamasaki postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Nicolopus is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Yamasaki, into his guard.

Yamasaki is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Nicolopus is aware though and is defending well.

Yamasaki has his foot on Nicolopus's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Nicolopus works his way back into a safe position though.
Nicolopus has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Nicolopus is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.

I think Yamasaki has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
