Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Juan Cohen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Craig Clifton (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The key to victory for Juan Cohen has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Juan Cohen!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Craig Clifton!
The judges for this bout are Illya Tyunina, Igor Prikhodko and Sergei Dronov.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cohen wants to clinch up but Clifton keeps it at a distance.
Cohen doesn't manage to clinch there - Clifton circles away.

Clifton feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Clifton has his hands on Cohen's head, controlling the position.
Clifton wants to stand and escape but Cohen is having none of it.

Cohen will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Clifton is trying to keep Cohen in close.
Cohen throws an elbow that misses. Clifton uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Cohen's guard. Nice move by Clifton!
Cohen is trying to control the position but Clifton postures up.

Clifton decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
Cohen fails with the takedown.

Clifton scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.
Cohen tries to get to full guard but Clifton has control of the leg.
Clifton wants to lay and pray for a moment but Cohen keeps working.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Clifton moves into full mount! Cohen won't be happy about that!

Clifton stands up from the dominant position. He obviously fancies his chances standing.

Cohen stalling in the clinch but Clifton improves position.

Cohen tries to work over Clifton's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target.

Clifton escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Cohen shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Clifton as he jumps to the side.
Clifton tries a head kick but it misses.

Clifton drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Clifton is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
Cohen wants to stand and escape but Clifton is having none of it.
Cohen is breathing heavily.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Clifton drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Clifton jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Craig Clifton dominated that round.
That's time! Cohen's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


Cohen lands a jab-cross combination.

Clifton moves into the clinch.
Cohen is pressed up against the cage. Clifton has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Cohen down to the mat. Cohen avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.

Clifton clinches up with Cohen and pushes him back against the cage.
Clifton is trying to drag Cohen to the mat but Cohen just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
Cohen wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Cohen keeps control of Clifton as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.
Clifton is trying to push Cohen away but Cohen has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.
Cohen jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Clifton walks away with a smile on his face. Cohen gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Clifton takes a swing at Cohen's ribcage but misses.

Cohen fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Juan Cohen is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
A nice inside leg kick there by Cohen. That's going to slow Clifton down.
Clifton moves in looking to clinch but Cohen pushes him off.
Cohen shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Juan Cohen. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Clifton slaps away a takedown attempt from Cohen, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Clifton goes for a double leg but Cohen avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Cohen continues to drive forward.

Clifton is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.
Cohen jumps guard but Clifton stands there with Cohen around his waist. Cohen gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

Clifton decides to pull guard.

Clifton has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Cohen can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Clifton has scooted to the edge of the canvas and used the cage to get back to his feet. Cohen has stuck on his opponent and is forcing him back against the cage.
Cohen goes for a takedown in the clinch but Clifton prevents it.
Cohen is trying to slow down the pace of the fight but Clifton is keeping busy.

Cohen is trying to maintain a safe position but Clifton gets an underhook and turns Cohen into the cage.
Clifton tries a knee to the head but he's missed.
Clifton wants to stall.
Cohen really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Clifton breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Clifton manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Cohen on his heels. He'll look to pass Cohen's guard now, I'm sure.
Clifton tries to stand but Cohen is controlling from the bottom.
Clifton is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Cohen is trying to control the position from the bottom.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Cohen has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Clifton is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Cohen.

Clifton is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Cohen has escaped the position, nice work there.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Craig Clifton showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. And we move into the final round!

Cohen moves into range and clinches up with Clifton.
Clifton lands a body punch in the clinch.

Clifton manages to break the clinch.
Cohen shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Clifton as he avoids it easily.

Clifton closes the distance and pushes Cohen back into the cage.

Cohen jumps guard and drags Clifton to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
Clifton wants to control from the top but Cohen keeps moving.
Clifton is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Cohen is working an open guard so Clifton takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
Cohen throws a head kick but Clifton moves out of range.
Cohen tries to close the distance and clinch up but Clifton swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Cohen shoots in looking for a takedown. Clifton tries to sprawl out of it but Cohen keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Clifton manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Clifton tries to clinch up.
Cohen tries to close the distance and clinch up but Clifton swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Clifton shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Clifton was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

Clifton remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.

Clifton in side control, working for a kimura. He's got hold of an arm and he's torquing it... Cohen is tapping! That's the end of the fight!
