Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Kileki Kawike (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Joe Steveson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Joe Steveson will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Steveson throws a head kick that Kawike semi-blocks.
Kawike shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Steveson tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Kawike paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Steveson moves in looking to clinch but Kawike pushes him off.

Kawike scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.
Steveson slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.
Kawike forces his way into half guard.
Steveson is trying to get back to full guard.
Steveson is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.

Kawike looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Kawike wants to take a breather but Steveson is having none of it.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Steveson trying to control but Kawike postures up.
Kawike prevents Steveson from improving his position.
Steveson is looking to control Kawike's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Steveson avoid being mounted?
Kawike not landing any meaningful shots this time.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Steveson gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily

and Kawike counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Kawike thows a huge punch but Steveson dodges it nicely.
Kawike throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.

Kawike is trying to work for a kimura but Steveson is defending well.
Steveson wants to get back to his feet.
Kawike missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.
Steveson wants to get back to full guard.

Kawike is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Steveson is just riding it out for now. Kawike eventually gives up the hold.
Kawike tries to pass to full mount but Steveson defends it.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Steveson controlling the position well.
Steveson makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Steveson.
Steveson looking for a sweep. Not yet Steveson, not yet.

Steveson working for a triangle but Kawike defends it easily.
Steveson looks gassed!
Kawike slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Kawike wants to lay and pray for a moment but Steveson keeps working.
Kawike landing strikes.
The strikes coming from Kawike are missing the target in this wave of attacks.

Kawike tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
Kawike scores with punches from side control.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Kileki Kawike dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.



Steveson decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Kawike makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Kawike.

Steveson gets to his feet - Kawike follows without any prompting.
Joe Steveson seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Steveson throws a sloppy head kick and Kawike moves out of range easily.
A combination from Steveson does no damage.

Kawike fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Steveson sprawls well initially but Kawike persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Steveson has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Kawike is working away from the top position though.
Kawike is looking to advance position but Steveson won't allow it.
Kawike has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Steveson is breathing heavily.
Steveson is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Kawike's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Kawike's back!

That's one minute gone in the round.

Steveson is remaining active here, looking for the choke. The more discerning members of the crowd will appreciate his efforts.

Kawike defends a rear naked choke attempt by controlling one of Steveson's arms.
Steveson really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Kawike. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Kawike rolls and manages to get back to half guard. Nicely done.
Kawike makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Kawike.

Kawike has his feet on Steveson's thighs here. He's pushed Steveson off and worked for a very quick armbar from the bottom! He's flipped onto his stomach and he's cranking hard on the arm! Steveson screams in pain and taps out! This one is all over!
