PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Kwame Moto (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Hiroshi Hatayama (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Moto comes to the ring accompanied by Tupac_Hit em' up. Hatayama has chosen Samurai Soul as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Kwame Moto!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Hiroshi Hatayama!
The judges for this bout are Yuuki Gou, Shigeki Fujiwara and Yasuomi Hirokawa.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Moto tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Moto takes one on the chin but keeps coming.
Moto throws a head kick that misses.
Moto is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Moto throws a head kick that misses.
Moto tries to close the distance and clinch up against the ropes but Hatayama paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Hatayama cracks a nice hook into Moto's ribs.
Moto throws the kick towards the body but Hatayama avoids it.
Moto throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Hatayama bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Hatayama trying to control the action but Moto is working from the bottom.
Hatayama advances nicely into full mount.
Moto regains half guard.
Moto is not content to let Hatayama control the position.
Moto manages to get to full guard.

Hatayama stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Moto swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Hatayama is pushing down on Moto's leg trying to pass to half guard. Moto is fighting to maintain full guard but Hatayama has managed to sneak the leg through.
Hatayama is tying to control. Moto wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
Hatayama controlling the pace.

Moto is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Moto is not content to let Hatayama control the position.
Moto trying to control but Hatayama postures up.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Hatayama is keen to just control but Moto is a slippery customer.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Hatayama bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Moto's head.
Hatayama misses with a few strikes there.
Hatayama lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.
Moto misses the jab.
Hatayama throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Moto throws a head kick that misses.
Moto defending well as Hatayama loads up on a big left hand.

Hatayama feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Hatayama passes Moto's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
Hatayama trying to control the action but Moto is working from the bottom.

Moto wants to control but Hatayama is keeping busy.
Moto is breathing heavily.
Moto wants to get back to his feet.
Hatayama looks to score some points with some ground and pound.
Hatayama trying to control from half guard but Moto is working away.
Moto is trying to get back to full guard.
Moto won't allow Hatayama to pass to mount.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fight is doing enough on the ground.
Hatayama connects with a nice looking jab.
Hatayama shoots in but Moto avoids the takedown attempt easily.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Hatayama jabs away that one connects to the head of his opponent.

Hatayama slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
Hatayama passes Moto's left leg - he's now in half guard.
Hatayama uses his free foot to push down on Moto's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Moto.
Hatayama tries to control but Moto wriggling away.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Hatayama takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
Hatayama lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Hatayama.
A big left from Hatayama misses.
Kwame Moto is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Moto has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Hatayama finds it's way round the side to connect with Moto's head.
Hatayama connects with a body shot.
Moto takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.
Moto has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Moto there as he acknowledges the shot.
Hatayama lands the left hand.
Hatayama pushing out the jab but it's not landing.

Moto closes the distance and clinches.

Moto breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Hatayama lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Hatayama throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Moto fails to land with a series of punches.
Hatayama fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Hatayama connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head.

Hatayama throws a jab but it's blocked by Moto.
Moto uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Hatayama has time to react.

Hatayama gets a takedown into half guard.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Hatayama wants to take a breather but Moto is having none of it.
Hatayama tries to pass the half guard into mount. Moto knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
Moto wants to get back to full guard.
Well, if Hatayama is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

Hatayama tries to control but Moto wriggling away.
Moto is controlling an arm, preventing Hatayama from taking his back. Although keeping him in mount is no better to be honest.
Hatayama controlling the pace for now.
Hatayama wants to control the pace but Moto is squirming around nicely.

Hatayama with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Moto is trying to control Hatayama's posture but Hatayama avoids it.

Hatayama moves out of range as Moto throws a body kick.
Moto throws a head kick but Hatayama moves out of range.

Hiroshi Hatayama showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! This is the final round!


Hatayama shoots for a double leg takedown but Moto sprawls well. He's pushed Hatayama's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Moto pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Moto throws a lazy right hand but Hatayama sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
A low kick from Moto is predictable there
and Hatayama counters with a nice uppercut.

Moto tries for a takedown but Hatayama sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Hatayama scores with a crisp jab that stopped Moto in his tracks.

Moto gets caught flat footed, as Hatayama shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.

Hatayama slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Hatayama passes easily into side control. Nice work.
Moto sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard.

Hatayama is figuring out what he wants to do next.

Hatayama is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Moto defends it well.
Moto wants to get back to full guard.
Hatayama is tying to control. Moto wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
Moto trying to hold on to Hatayama's head to control him but Hatayama postures up.
Hatayama is taking a breather. Moto says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Moto tries to regain full guard. Instead though, Hatayama has advanced to mount. Uh oh.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Hatayama jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Moto manages to avoid the submission attempt.
Hatayama works to advance to full mount. Moto defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs.

Moto is squirming around, avoiding Hatayama's attempts to control the action.
Moto sneaks a leg under to get to half guard.
Hatayama throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Hatayama connects with a nice short shot to Moto's temple.
Hatayama wants to pass to mount but Moto is defending the position.
Hatayama is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Moto!
Kwame Moto has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Moto is wriggling around trying to escape.

Hatayama is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Moto has managed to escape the submission attempt.

Hiroshi Hatayama comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I've got Hatayama winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
