PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Benjamin Watson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Bo Frost (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Watson comes into the arena with Let Me Find Out blaring out of the sound system. Fingers crossed for an exciting fight - I'm sure both fighters are looking for a nice under the table bonus!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Benjamin Watson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 1, fighting out of Montreal, Bo Frost!
The judges for this bout are Ian Loll, Alec Ball and Elvis Blanc.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Watson tries to score a power double leg takedown but Frost sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Watson somewhat.
Watson fails with the takedown.
Watson stuffs the takedown attempt from Frost. Frost gets slowly back to his feet.
Frost shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Watson as he jumps to the side.
Watson shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Frost pinned against the cage. Frost gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Benjamin Watson. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Watson misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Frost wants to clinch
and Watson makes him pay by landing a thudding low kick.

Frost closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Watson did well to prevent Frost getting side control.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
Watson manages to get to full guard.

Watson pulls Frost in close to his closed guard and prevents Frost from doing any damage or advancing position.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Frost tries to stand but Watson is controlling from the bottom.
Frost really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Watson. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Frost controlling from the top position.
Frost won't allow Watson to get back to his feet.
Frost is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Bo Frost wasn't active enough on the ground.
Frost shoots in for a takedown but Watson shows good takedown defense.

Frost fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Watson, pushing him back against the cage.
Watson misses with a knee strike.
Frost wants to take the fight to the mat but Watson manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch.
Watson managing to block the knees to the body from Frost.
Frost is trying to slow down the pace of the fight but Watson is keeping busy.

Watson escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Frost goes for a double leg but Watson avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Watson continues to drive forward.
Frost content to slow the pace in the clinch.
Frost tries for a takedown but Watson manages to get underhooks.

Watson drags the fight down to the ground.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

The fighters are working up against the cage. Watson manages to wriggle his way back to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched against the cage.
Our sources have told us that Watson has been working on his knees in the buildup to the fight.
Watson goes for a takedown attempt but Frost pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.

Watson prevents a takedown attempt there.
Frost is pushing Watson up against the cage, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word.
Frost misses with an elbow over the top.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Watson stalling in the clinch but Frost improves position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Bo Frost will probably get the nod.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!



Watson manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Frost on his heels. He'll look to pass Frost's guard now, I'm sure.

Watson drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Watson jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Frost utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.

Watson is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Frost seems keen to control Watson's posture.
Watson is pushing down on Frost's leg trying to pass to half guard. Frost is fighting to maintain full guard but Watson has managed to sneak the leg through.
Frost preventing any damage for now, controlling his opponent's head.

Watson is working for a submission of some sort.
Watson seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Frost does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Frost is in a horrible position here, under a barrage of strikes, he's managing to avoid any damage.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!

Watson shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Frost sprawls well. Frost wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Watson gets slowly back to his feet.

A telegraphed takedown attempt from Watson is defended easily by Frost.

Frost tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Watson just stands there and leans against the cage.

Frost tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Benjamin Watson has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Bo Frost.
Watson tries a knee to the head but he's missed.
It really doesn't seem like the step up in weight is hurting Watson here at all. He's more than holding his own against the bigger man.
Frost is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.

Watson has control of Frost's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Frost regains control of the situation pretty easily.

Benjamin Watson overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Benjamin Watson.
I think Watson has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
