Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Davenport tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Polish defends well and Davenport ends up having to push Polish into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
Polish gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Davenport.
Davenport tries to pull guard but Polish forces him back to his feet, against the cage.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Alva Davenport. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Polish jumps guard.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Polish pulls Davenport in close to his closed guard and prevents Davenport from doing any damage or advancing position.
Polish tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Polish bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Davenport's guard.
Davenport could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. James Polish wasn't active enough on the ground.
Davenport throws a low kick but Polish avoids it.

The fight stays on the outside here - Davenport looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Davenport jumps guard but Polish stands there with Davenport around his waist. Davenport gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

Davenport dives in and grabs Polish's left leg, looking for a takedown. Polish pushes down on Davenport's head and hops out.

Davenport fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Polish avoids it really well and circles away.
Alva Davenport seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Davenport tries to grapple but his opponent circles
and Polish counters with a left and a right that stings Davenport.
Davenport shoots for a double leg takedown but Polish sprawls well. He's pushed Davenport's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Polish closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Davenport did well to prevent Polish getting side control.
We've been informed that Polish has been working hard on his conditioning in the buildup to the fight.
Davenport is not content to let Polish control the position.
Polish tries to stand but can't do so whilst Davenport controls his leg.
Polish is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.

It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Polish throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Polish is trying to control the action in half guard but Davenport is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

OK we're going to have a standup here. James Polish hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
Polish shoots in looking for a takedown but Davenport manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Polish's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Davenport gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Polish counters with a body kick that brings a smile to the face of both fighters.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Polish has managed to clinch.

Polish has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Davenport avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.

Polish pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Polish looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Davenport!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Polish is looking to take a break and control but Davenport is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Polish working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.

Davenport holds on to Polish's head and controls the position momentarily.

Polish has an Americana. Davenport didn't react quickly enough there and he's in big trouble now! He tries to squirm out but is forced to tap! Polish is delighted and gyrates in front of the ring girls. They seem to like the attention - it'll be interesting to see if Polish hooks up with any of them at the after show party.
