Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Aquiles Bergasmarchi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Brad Bennett (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Bennett has chosen Shipping Up to Boston as his entrance music. I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Brad Bennett was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.

The judges for this bout are Robert Twigg, George Francis and Stewart Dunkirk.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bergasmarchi lands a slapping body shot.
Bennett jabs at Bergasmarchi's body.
Bergasmarchi scores with a hook to the body. Bennett takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.
We've been told by Bergasmarchi's head coaches at Skylab Vegas that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.
Bergasmarchi throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Bergasmarchi shoots in but Bennett avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Bennett gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there.
Bergasmarchi throws a series of punches but Bennett moves out of range.
Bergasmarchi tries to bum rush Bennett with a series of wild strikes but Bennett uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Bennett connects with a single shot there.
Bergasmarchi misses with a takedown attempt
enabling Bennett to counter with a crisp jab.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Bergasmarchi misses with a two punch combination.
Bennett punishes Bergasmarchi's body with a nice straight punch.
Bennett misses with a low kick as Bergasmarchi jumps back.
The fighters circling - Bennett throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Bergasmarchi fails to land with a series of punches.

Bergasmarchi with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Bennett to score with a decent uppercut.

Bergasmarchi gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Bennett is looking to stand up but Bergasmarchi won't let him.
Bennett tries to free his leg and advance position but Bergasmarchi is retaining full guard.
Bennett missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Bennett throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Bergasmarchi works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Bennett has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Bennett wanted to stand there but Bergasmarchi had control of the position.

Bennett wants to stand and escape but instead Bergasmarchi has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.

Bennett manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Bergasmarchi manages to get himself to full guard.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Bennett postures up in Bergasmarchi's guard and throws a big left but Bergasmarchi blocks it.

Bennett controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
Bennett wants to get up but he can't break Bergasmarchi's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Brad Bennett was stalling too much, according to the referee.
Bennett throws a series of strikes that have Bergasmarchi backpedaling.
Bennett pivots, looking for a leg kick but Bergasmarchi is out of range and Bennett settles back down.
Bergasmarchi throws a combination that misses
and Bennett counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work.
Bennett scores with a nice right hand.


Bergasmarchi is rocked!
Bergasmarchi dives in and grabs Bennett's left leg, looking for a takedown. Bennett pushes down on Bergasmarchi's head and hops out.
Oh Bergasmarchi is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Aquiles Bergasmarchi. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Both fighters step back and shake their arms out. Bennett engages and cracks Bergasmarchi with a massive lead left hook - Bergasmarchi tumbles to the floor, out cold! What a shot! Bennett is delighted - all that hard work in training paid off!
