PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Steve Rogers (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Reginald Dempsey (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Reginald Dempsey will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 3 - 1, fighting out of Sydney, Steve Rogers!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 1, fighting out of Sydney, Reginald Dempsey!
The judges for this bout are Summer Carpenter, Bruno Hogan and Skip Squint.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rogers bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Rogers takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.
Dempsey lands with a head kick! That's gotta hurt.


It looks like Steve Rogers has been cut.
Rogers misses the shot to the body.
Rogers tries to close the distance and clinch up but Dempsey swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Dempsey tries a head kick but it misses.
Reginald Dempsey seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Dempsey misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Rogers tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Dempsey defends well and Rogers ends up having to push Dempsey into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.

Rogers turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Rogers manages to end up in side control.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
Rogers wants to lay and pray for a moment but Dempsey keeps working.

Rogers is taking a breather. Dempsey says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Dempsey is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Rogers's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Rogers's back!

Rogers is trying to get back to his feet but Dempsey has full control of the position and if anything, Rogers has just worked his way into a worse spot.
Rogers is very frustrated here, being controlled quite effectively by Dempsey.

Rogers shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.

Dempsey moves out of range as Rogers strikes.
Rogers misses with an uppercut. Dempsey saw that one coming.

and Dempsey counters with a good low kick that Rogers was not able to check.
Dempsey ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Dempsey digs a right hand into Rogers's ribs. Those have got to be taking their toll on Rogers's gas tank.
Dempsey wants to break the clinch but can't.

Dempsey works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance.
Rogers looks to score with a jab to the body but Dempsey is just out of range.

and Rogers counters with a nice double leg into side control. Dempsey won't be happy with that.

We've been hearing that Rogers has been drilling a lot of ground and pound in training, so let's see if he get the finish.

Rogers shoots in looking for a takedown but Dempsey manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Rogers's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Rogers is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.
