Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Will West (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Socially Awkward Penguin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Penguin has chosen Why Cant We Be Friends as his entrance music. Socially Awkward Penguin has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 14 - 12 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Will West!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 17 - 13 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Socially Awkward Penguin!
The judges for this bout are William Gold, James Ackerman and Sam Margolis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Penguin tries to clinch up.
West shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
West misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Will West seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
West throws a head kick but Penguin moves out of range.
West fakes a jab and throws a low kick but Penguin checks it well.
An inside leg kick from West misses.
West fails with the takedown.
Penguin wants to clinch but West slips to the side

and West moves into the clinch.

West tightens his grip and picks Penguin up, before dumping him to the ground. Penguin manages to land in guard.
West stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Penguin swivels though and keeps the full guard.
West wants to control from the top but Penguin keeps moving.
West wants to pass the guard but Penguin is keeping the position.

West is working hard here to advance position.
Penguin is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst West is controlling him.

West drops back, looking for a kneebar! Penguin looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Penguin looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Penguin!
West tries to bench press Penguin off him but Penguin keeps the position.

West parries the strikes from Penguin easily there. Penguin is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable West to escape.

A bit of a lull in the action here.
West tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Penguin wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

West manages to work his way to half guard, despite Penguin's best efforts.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
West keeps control of the position for the meantime.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Penguin wants to take a breather but West is having none of it.

Penguin looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

West wants to improve his position but Penguin is controlling well.

West is defending against the submission attempts here by Penguin.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
West tries to roll over but Penguin keeps him under control.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
West lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Penguin!

Penguin defends well against a solid takedown attempt from West.
West tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Penguin swivels and escapes.

Penguin tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Some bone on bone action there as Penguin checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one.

West throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Penguin sees it coming and avoids it easily.

West shoots in and drives through. Penguin sprawls well.

West shoots in but no luck this time.
West jabs away that one connects to the head of his opponent.
Penguin on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by West. West obviously looking to wear him down.

Penguin tries to clinch but West moves out of range.

West throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.

and Penguin counters with a head kick.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
West swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Nice takedown defense from Penguin. No joy for West on that attempt.

West shoots in and gets a takedown into Penguin's guard.
West wants to control from the top but Penguin keeps moving.
Penguin wants to stand up but West is controlling him.
West advances to half guard.
Penguin is in trouble now - West has advanced to mount!

West goes for an armbar but Penguin turns quickly into his guard - lovely anticipation from Penguin.
Penguin working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound.
West avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
West tries to land a sweep but no joy.
West is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.
Will West overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Penguin slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
Penguin is looking to work some ground and pound but West has wrist control.

Penguin trying to control but West is working from the bottom.
West lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Penguin!
Penguin has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
West content just to control the position here.
West is looking to work his way around to Penguin's back. He needs to be careful though, as he's in danger of losing this dominant position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Will West will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!

West is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Socially Awkward Penguin has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Penguin working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of West's head.
Penguin slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
Penguin fails to land a wild elbow strike.
West manages to work his way to half guard, despite Penguin's best efforts.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Penguin is taking a breather. West says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

Penguin scores with a decent looking elbow strike.

Penguin drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Penguin jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
West is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

West is trying to advance to mount but he's lost his balance and Penguin reverses the position - he's now on top in West's guard.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Will West.
Well West has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
