The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Vang shoots for a takedown but Overeem saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Vang goes for a double leg but Overeem avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Overeem continues to drive forward.
Still in the clinch, Overeem scores with a nice short uppercut.
Overeem is working for takedown but Vang is calmly controlling the position for now.

Overeem jumps into guard, dragging Vang to the mat.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.

Vang drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Vang jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Vang could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

Overeem has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Vang is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Overeem.
Vang has control of an arm but Overeem manages to advance to Vang's back!
Vang is holding onto Overeem's left hand, preventing any choke attempts.

Overeem is looking to finish the fight by rear naked choke. Vang knows exactly what he's got planned though, so he's defending well. Maybe a few strikes would soften Vang for a finish.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
