Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Colton Frederick!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Rogerio Nogues!
The judges for this bout are Mauricio Rocha, Alexandre Firmino and Luis Engracia.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Nogues looking for a takedown here - he's got it.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Nogues is standing up over Frederick. Frederick looks to escape but Nogues dives into side control.
Nogues working away.
Frederick tries to improve position but can't.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Nogues goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Frederick has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Nogues but great work by Frederick.
Frederick tries to move into full mount but can't pass Nogues's legs.
Nogues tries to buck Frederick off but Frederick is having none of it.
Frederick trying to control the action but Nogues is working from the bottom.
Nogues keeping his opponent close.

Frederick thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Frederick trying to control the position but Nogues is working away.
Nogues tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Frederick wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

Nogues wants to control but Frederick postures up.
Frederick tries to get to his feet but he's trapped momentarily.

Frederick gets to mount! Nogues was on the offensive and wasn't defending properly.
Nogues holds on to Frederick around his waist, trying desperately to prevent any attacks.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Nogues is trying to reverse the position but instead Frederick has taken his back - oops!
Frederick is looking cool and calm here, just waiting for a good opportunity to attack and finish the fight from this dominant position.
Nogues manages to reverse the position and now he's in Frederick's guard. Nice work there by Nogues.
Nogues advances position into side control!

Nogues tries for a kimura but Frederick is defending well.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
You can see the frustration on Frederick's face as Nogues controls the position.

Nogues has hold of Frederick's arm. He's looking for a kimura. Frederick seems comfortable defending it but Nogues has shifted his position slighty and is cranking on the arm! Frederick is real pain and he's forced to tap out! Frederick is disgusted with himself for not defending it better but Nogues couldn't care less - he's delighted!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:15 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Rogerio Nogues!
