Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Ben Davidson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jay Lion (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Fingers crossed for an exciting fight - I'm sure both fighters are looking for a nice under the table bonus!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Ben Davidson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Jay Lion!
The judges for this bout are Don Winkell, and Jack Bonds.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Davidson throws out a loose jab but Lion uses good head movement to avoid it.
Davidson circles away from the clinch attempt.
Lion lands with a nice combination. Davidson backs away looking to recover.


It looks like Ben Davidson has been cut.
Davidson scores with a head kick.
Davidson fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Lion avoids it really well and circles away.
Davidson swings for the body but Lion moves out of range.
Davidson fails with the takedown.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
A clash of legs there as Davidson blocks the low kick.

Davidson dives in and scores a takedown into Lion's guard.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.

Lion tries to close the distance and clinch but Davidson swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Lion scores to the head and body with a nice combination!

Davidson manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Lion on his heels. He'll look to pass Lion's guard now, I'm sure.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Lion is looking for a triangle but Davidson pushes his legs off easily.

Davidson postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

Davidson prevents Lion from getting back to his feet.

Davidson slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

Davidson has hold of one of Lion's legs. Lion is fighting the takedown attempt but Davidson gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard.

Lion bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Davidson's guard.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Lion stands up and we're back to a striking position.
Davidson shoots for a double leg takedown but Lion sprawls well. He's pushed Davidson's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Lion tries to score a power double leg takedown but Davidson sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Lion somewhat.

Lion has Davidson pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Davidson manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.

Lion shoots in looking for a takedown. Davidson tries to sprawl out of it but Lion keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Davidson manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Ben Davidson has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jay Lion.

The step up in weight doesn't seem to be a problem for Lion. He's performing admirably here against the bigger man.

Davidson jumps guard and drags Lion to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.

Lion stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Davidson swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Davidson manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Lion manages to get himself to full guard.

Lion escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Davidson gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
Davidson would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.

Davidson jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Lion walks away with a smile on his face. Davidson gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Lion darts in looking for a takedown but Davidson gets double underhooks and turns Lion into the cage.
Davidson fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Davidson is working for takedown but Lion is calmly controlling the position for now.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Ben Davidson. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Davidson breaks the clinch.
Lion shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Davidson but Davidson pushes him off and we're back to square one.

Davidson tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Lion smiles and moves away.

and Lion counters with a three punch combo that has Davidson backing up. Davidson nods at Lion to acknowledge the strikes.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Lion throws a one two combo.
Lion closes the distance and clinches up with Davidson, looking for a takedown. Lion pushes Davidson against the cage but Davidson circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Lion fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Davidson sprawls well initially but Lion persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Davidson is trying to control but can't.
Davidson is refusing to be controlled, as Lion sits in half guard.
Jay Lion has got the better of the ground game so far.
Lion stops Davidson from getting back to his feet.

We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.

Davidson rushes Lion and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.

The referee is keeping an eye on Lion - much more stalling and he will separate the fighters.

Davidson breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Lion tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Davidson swivels and escapes.

Davidson bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Davidson wants to lay and pray for a moment but Lion keeps working.
Davidson is really struggling to control Lion but he's trying to hold on to the position.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Lion is trying to improve his position.

And that's the end of the fight!
Jay Lion comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Lion has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
