Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Mauro Hansen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rafael Pettis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rafael Pettis has the power to score a knockout today if he connects clean with Mauro Hansen's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Mauro Hansen!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Rafael Pettis!
The judges for this bout are Alyssa Summers, Columbo Gatti and John Kavanagh.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Pettis throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Pettis closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
Pettis staying calm.
Pettis wants to stand but Hansen is controlling his arm.
Hansen dodges the ground and pound from Pettis.
Pettis taking a breather here.
Pettis wants to stand but Hansen has his arm trapped.
Pettis has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Pettis decides to stand back up.

Pettis misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Hansen takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.
Hansen tries a head kick but it misses.
Pettis throws a head kick but Hansen moves out of range.
Hansen really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Pettis is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Hansen's half guard.
Pettis wants to take a breather but Hansen is having none of it.

Pettis is working for a kimura but Hansen is defending it quite comfortably.
Hansen is looking to improve his position.

Pettis thows a huge punch but Hansen dodges it nicely.
Hansen strikes from the bottom but Pettis uses the opportunity to move to side control.
Pettis wants to stand but Hansen has his arm trapped.
Hansen tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Pettis wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

Pettis tries to get to his feet but he's trapped momentarily.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Hansen is not content to let Pettis control the position.

Hansen tries to control but Pettis manages to take his back.
Will Pettis go for the finish here or will he try and keep control of the position?
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Pettis is controlling his opponent, waiting for an opportunity to finish.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Hansen looking very determined here, making life difficult for Pettis.

Hansen wants to clinch.
Hansen tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Pettis manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Pettis checks a low kick from Hansen.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Pettis enables Hansen to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Pettis manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Hansen has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Pettis manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Hansen manages to get himself to full guard.
Rafael Pettis has got the better of the ground game so far.
Hansen is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Hansen is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Hansen controls Pettis momentarily but Pettis frees himself.
Pettis stands and throws Hansen's legs to the side, diving into side control.
Pettis controls the position.

Pettis tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Pettis has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Pettis creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Hansen sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.

Pettis wants to stand but Hansen is controlling his arm.

Pettis is trying to get an arm triangle but Hansen is defending well.
Hansen is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Pettis asserts his dominance and retains side control.

The step up in weight doesn't seem to be a problem for Pettis. He's performing admirably here against the bigger man.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Hansen is trying to improve his position.

Hansen is not content to let Pettis control the position.
Pettis advances nicely into full mount.

Pettis lands with some vicious ground and pound - can Hansen hang on?

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Pettis is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Hansen can't stay in a position like this for much longer.

Pettis can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Hansen is looking to escape.
Pettis cracks Hansen with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Hansen is trying desperately to improve position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Rafael Pettis showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's time! Back to the action! This is the final round!


Hansen is looking to clinch.
Pettis looking to land some kicks to the body here.

Pettis gets caught napping as Hansen dives in and scores a takedown. Pettis manages to retain guard.
Hansen knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Pettis on the ground.
Hansen looking to sit in guard and control but Pettis gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Hansen wants to stand up but Pettis is controlling him.
Pettis pushes down on Hansen's leg and manages to get into half guard.
Hansen keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.

Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Pettis in particular looking to stall.
Hansen tries to push off, looking to stand up, but Pettis manages to move to mount!

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Pettis connects with a bit shot that sees Hansen covering up! More strikes from Pettis and the referee jumps in to stop the fight! Pettis is our winner by TKO!
