The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Griffon ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Patel moves away.
Patel shoots in for a double leg but Griffon sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

Patel shoots in and gets a takedown into Griffon's guard.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Patel trying to stand up but can't free himself from Griffon's guard.
Patel loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Patel is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Patel slips nicely into half guard, despite the strikes coming from Griffon.

Patel is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Griffon knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Griffon really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Patel. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Griffon is looking for a sweep.

Patel is in a dominant position here, looking for a kimura. Griffon looks calm but he's in trouble here. Patel gets his leg over his opponent's head and yanks on the arm.
