The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Carrillo shoots for a takedown but Saint Piere saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Ouch! a nice leg kick from Carrillo, right into the meat.
Carrillo lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin.
Saint Piere circles away from the clinch attempt.
Saint Piere throws a right hand that misses
and Carrillo counters with a series of strikes. Saint Piere will be more careful next time no doubt.
Carrillo shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and Saint Piere decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Carrillo's guard.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
Saint Piere controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
Saint Piere is pushing down on Carrillo's leg trying to pass to half guard. Carrillo is fighting to maintain full guard but Saint Piere has managed to sneak the leg through.

Carrillo knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Saint Piere on the ground.

Saint Piere shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Carrillo napping and manages to drive through into side control!

Saint Piere is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Carrillo knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Saint Piere remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.
My spies in Cozad MMA Rio inform me that Saint Piere has been getting involved in the gym's BJJ sparring sessions. Let's see whether that pays dividends!
