Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, German Shephard!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
5 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Melvin Manhoef!
The judges for this bout are Steve Erwin, Hugh Johnson and Bruno Hogan.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Manhoef fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Shephard has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.
Manhoef looks to land a body kick but Shephard moved away.
Shephard blocks a head kick by Manhoef.
Manhoef swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Shephard bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Manhoef's head.
Shephard keeping at a good range here, avoiding a leg kick.
Manhoef throws a low kick but Shephard moves out of range easily.

Manhoef throws a lazy uppercut
and Shephard counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
A jab lands there for Manhoef.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Shephard misses the shot to the body.
Manhoef looks to throw the jab but Shephard is out of range.
Shephard slips a jab and a cross from Manhoef.
Manhoef swinging wildly here.
Melvin Manhoef seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Shephard takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Manhoef turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick.
Manhoef wants to clinch
and Shephard decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Manhoef's guard.
Shephard pushes down on Manhoef's leg and manages to get into half guard.
Shephard uses his free foot to push down on Manhoef's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Manhoef.

This has been an exciting period of action!
Shephard is giving the impression that he's looking to ground and pound but he switches suddenly into a beautiful far side armbar! Manhoef is forced to tap! Great finish!
