Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Cory Steel (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Agamemnon Coon (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Steel's entrance music is Immortal Technique-Point of no return. A fine choice. This should be a great matchup!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 27 - 23 - 1, fighting out of New York, Cory Steel!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 27 - 19 - 2, fighting out of New York, Agamemnon Coon!
The judges for this bout are Steve Montenegro, Anthony Taglia and John Kavanagh.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Coon takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.
Steel tests Coon's chin there with a solid looking shot.
Steel throws a series of punches but Coon avoids them all with ease.
Coon uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook.
Steel keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Coon.
Steel misses with a wild body shot.
Coon uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Steel.
A left and a right from Steel both land. Nice combination.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Steel misses with a few strikes there.
Steel scores with a straight right hand, right through his opponent's guard.
Steel takes a head kick and shrugs it off.
Coon shoots for a takedown but Steel saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Steel throws a big shot that misses.

Coon falls off balance throwing a combination
and Steel counters with a stiff right hand.

Coon connects with a crisp jab.
Coon throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Steel sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Cory Steel is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Steel thows a body shot but no joy.
Steel bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut.
We've been told by Steel's head coaches at Kick In The Nutz Gym (14 Elite Coaches, Low Cap) that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.
Steel walks into a straight right hand from Coon.
Coon jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Coon tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Steel defends well and Coon ends up having to push Steel into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.

Steel breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Steel misses with an uppercut. Coon saw that one coming.
Steel is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Coon.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Steel misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Coon has a takedown stuffed.
Cory Steel has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Agamemnon Coon.

Coon shoots for a double leg takedown but Steel sprawls well. He's pushed Coon's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Steel throws a combination. Coon tries to block but a couple of punches get through.
Coon is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Steel.
Coon takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.

enabling Coon to counter with a crisp jab.
Steel with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Coon to score with a decent uppercut.
Steel throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Coon sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Steel avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Steel throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Steel works Coon's body with a nice hook.
Steel is looking to wear down Coon with body shots, infact he's throwing more body shots than head shots at the moment.
Coon shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Steel as he jumps to the side.

and Coon counters with a shoot takedown. Steel fights it but they end up in guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

Coon working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Steel's head.
Steel is looking to stand back up but Coon counters by passing into half guard. Oops... bit sloppy there by Steel.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Coon lands a nice short elbow.
Steel is looking to escape.
Coon winds up and cracks Steel with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
Steel on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound.
Coon takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
Coon throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Coon has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Coon lands a nice short elbow.

Coon perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.

Steel manages to create a bit of space in order to work his way back to his feet. Coon keeps hold of his opponent and drives him back against the cage.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Coon has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Steel is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
Steel gets underhooks to prevent Coon's takedown attempt.
Steel can't break the clinch.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Cory Steel will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.

and Steel counters with a three punch combo that has Coon backing up. Coon nods at Steel to acknowledge the strikes.

Steel throws a shot from downtown. Coon moves away and avoids it.

Coon shoots in looking for a takedown but Steel manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Coon's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Steel stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Steel wants it to stay on the feet.

Steel lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Steel.

Good leg kick by Coon there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.

Steel ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.

A looping hook to the body misses from Steel. Coon does a little dance to reset his feet.

Steel misses with a hook
and Coon cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Steel ducks down and throws a hook to the body.
Coon lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw.
A telegraphed right hand from Steel misses the target.
Steel uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Coon has time to react.
Steel throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Steel misses with a body punch
and Coon counters with a nice low kick that buckles Steel's knee momentarily.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Coon prevents Steel from getting back to his feet.

Coon closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

Steel is pushing Coon's head away, looking to escape. Coon manages to hold on to the position though.
Steel trying desperately to get back to his feet here but he's not having any joy at all. He's going to tire himself out if he's not careful.

Agamemnon Coon showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!

The fighters are working up against the cage. Steel manages to wriggle his way back to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched against the cage.

Steel's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

I would just about give that final round to Agamemnon Coon.
