A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Calzaghe.
Calzaghe closes the distance and clinches up with Anello, looking for a takedown. Calzaghe pushes Anello against the cage but Anello circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Anello.
Calzaghe is hobbling a little on that front leg after taking quite a few leg kicks so far in this fight.

and Calzaghe takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
This is turning into a torrid day at the office for Calzaghe. He's trying desperately to land a takedown but he's failing miserably and getting slapped silly on the feet to compound his misery.

Anello is landing a lot of head punches in this opening round! Calzaghe had better start moving his head a bit unless he wants his face to turn into pâté.

Calzaghe throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Anello's waist but Anello gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Calzaghe off to one side.

Anello fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.
Calzaghe really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Anello walks forward and throws a big overhand right! Calzaghe drops to the floor like a sack of potatoes! Anello swarms on him with more punches until the referee wrestles him away from Calzaghe's unconscious body! Wow, that was brutal!
