PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Wedge Xiii (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Glenn Wauler (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Xiii comes to the cage accompanied by Tenacious D - Master Exploder. Wauler is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Good 'ol Boy. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 17 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Wedge Xiii!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 15 - 7 - 0, fighting out of New York, Glenn Wauler!
The judges for this bout are Chad Campbell, John Kavanagh and Anthony Taglia.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Xiii ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Xiii fails with a takedown attempt.
Wauler has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Xiii finds it's way round the side to connect with Wauler's head.
Xiii connects with a jab.

Wauler gets caught flat footed, as Xiii shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Xiii with a flurry of punches that miss.
Wauler bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Xiii's guard.
Xiii seems keen to control Wauler's posture.
Wauler slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

Xiii is adopting a defensive guard.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Wedge Xiii just wasn't active enough.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Xiii has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

We've been hearing good reports from Xiii's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.

Wauler doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.
Xiii fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Wauler manages to avoid it.
Wauler dips down and scores with a jab to the body.

Wauler's coach down at Kick In The Nutz Gym (14 Elite Coaches, Low Cap) was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Wauler's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight.
Wauler tries to close the distance and clinch but Xiii swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Wauler scores with the left hand. Xiii knows he should have avoided that one.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Xiii is stalling here. Wauler is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Xiii seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Wauler has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work.

and Xiii decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Wauler's guard.

I would just about give that final round to Glenn Wauler.
I think Xiii has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
