The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sasaki is trying hard to land a takedown here. Powell sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.

Powell closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Sasaki quickly recovers to half guard.
Powell is looking to take a break and control but Sasaki is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Powell moves into side control, avoiding a weak kimura attempt from Sasaki.

Sasaki might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Powell haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

Sasaki isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Powell stacks Sasaki on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Powell!
Powell tries to get to his feet but he's trapped momentarily.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Sasaki is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Powell asserts his dominance and retains side control.
