Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Alan Smith (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rock Stone (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Alan Smith!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Rock Stone!
The judges for this bout are John Mangel, Damien Edna and Skip Squint.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Smith clinches up against the cage.

Smith breaks from the clinch.
Stone is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Smith misses with a series of wild punches.
Stone scores to the head and body with a nice combination!


It looks like Alan Smith has been cut.
Stone misses with a series of wild punches.
Smith tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Stone was well out of range. Poor timing from Smith.

Stone decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Smith is in a tricky position but he's been working on his transitions down at LOD-Guts & Glory Gym, so we'll see if he gets out of it.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Smith is trying to maintain the position but Stone is very close to passing his half guard.
Smith makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Smith.
Stone has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Smith is proving hard to escape from.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Smith pushes Stone off and gets back to his feet.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Stone wants to clinch but Smith slips to the side

so Smith counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Stone looking to control.
Smith wants to pass the guard but Stone is keeping the position.
Stone tries to strike from the bottom.
Smith is pushing down on Stone's leg trying to pass to half guard. Stone is fighting to maintain full guard but Smith has managed to sneak the leg through.
Stone tries to get to full guard but Smith has control of the leg.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Smith connects with a nice short shot to Stone's temple.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Smith throwing shots but Stone is blocking nicely.

Smith is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Stone won't allow Smith to pass to mount.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Smith passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Stone!
Smith working the ground and pound effectively.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Stone keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.

Smith goes for an armbar but he's fallen flat on his backside there and now Stone is on top in guard.
Stone wants to control from the top but Smith keeps moving.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Smith is adopting a defensive guard.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
The fight stays on the outside here - Stone looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
A looping hook to the body misses from Smith. Stone does a little dance to reset his feet.
A head kick misses from Stone.
Smith leaves Stone with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Smith is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.
Stone throws a head kick but Smith moves out of range.
Smith lands a right hook to the body.

Smith drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Smith fails to land a wild elbow strike.
Smith tries to move to mount but Stone blocks the move with his legs.
Stone takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Stone defending against the ground and pound.
Stone takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better.
The strikes coming from Smith are missing the target in this wave of attacks.

Smith thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Alan Smith dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Alan Smith's cut.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Stone wants to clinch

and Smith counters with a nice double leg into half guard.

Stone looking to work for a kimura from the bottom.
Smith missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.

Smith is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Stone has managed to free his arm - good work.
Alan Smith overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Stone is trying to control but can't.
Smith takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Stone wants to control but Smith is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Stone avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Smith.
Smith uses his free foot to push down on Stone's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Stone.

Smith is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Stone has managed to escape the submission attempt.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Smith prevents Stone from getting the reversal.
Smith scoring with strikes but Stone is staying in there.


It looks like Rock Stone has been cut.
Smith with good strikes from the mount here!
Smith raining down hammerfists from mount.


Stone is rocked!

Smith is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Stone has managed to escape the submission attempt.
Stone is still in real trouble! Can Smith finish him?
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Stone is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Stone seems to have recovered his senses.

Smith wants to finish this one by submission but Stone is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Smith.
Smith avoids the attempt from Stone to control.
Whack. That's a big, big shot from Smith! Stone is out cold! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:56 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Strikes). Alan Smith!
Alan Smith tried to hype himself up post fight but didn't word it too well and it ended up with him sounding like a bit of a tool.
