PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Hugh Campos (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Carl Tossgrove (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Carl Tossgrove was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Hugh Campos!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Carl Tossgrove!
The judges for this bout are Dillan Fox, Trevor Gratis and Alec Ball.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A big left from Campos misses.
Tossgrove is looking to take this fight into the clinch.

and Campos counters with a three punch combo that has Tossgrove backing up. Tossgrove nods at Campos to acknowledge the strikes.

Tossgrove is trying to break the clinch but Campos is controlling him.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Campos blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.

Tossgrove using the Thai plumb to throw knees but Campos has his back arched nicely, preventing the strike.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

That was a close round but I would say that Hugh Campos will probably get the nod.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Campos shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Tossgrove as he jumps to the side.
Tossgrove tries to clinch up but Campos circles away and keeps his distance.

It looks like Hugh Campos has been cut.

Tossgrove closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Campos quickly recovers to half guard.
Tossgrove wants to control but Campos is keeping him busy.
Campos won't allow Tossgrove to pass to mount.
Tossgrove working over Campos with some ground and pound. Campos looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable.
Campos manages to get to full guard.

Tossgrove missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Tossgrove would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.

Campos has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Tossgrove off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.
Tossgrove tries to close the distance and clinch but Campos swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Tossgrove is looking to stand back up... there's a bit of a scramble and Campos dives into side control.
Tossgrove is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Campos asserts his dominance and retains side control.

Carl Tossgrove showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

With the two fighters working up against the cage, Tossgrove just misses with a elbow thrown towards Campos's brow.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

and Tossgrove counters with a leg kick then a big left hand that sends Campos down! Tossgrove is looking to finish but Campos is intelligently defending himself.

This has been an exciting period of action!
Campos looking to hit a scissor sweep but Tossgrove is one step ahead there.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Tossgrove throws a big right hand that misses.

Tossgrove got a little sloppy there for a moment and Campos has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Tossgrove has managed to get both his arms back between Campos's legs - danger averted.
Carl Tossgrove has got the better of the ground game so far.

Tossgrove lands a couple of decent looking shots.
Campos might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Tossgrove wants to control from the top but Campos keeps moving.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Well Tossgrove has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
